Re: Should it be overhauled?
Wasnt the failures of the King George V and Hilton Manor partly down to the poor quality cool rather than "mechincal failures" both loco's suffered hot boxes (6000 at Taunton, Hinton Manor at Exeter) Hinton manor was repaired overnight, and Hagley Hall bought down from the SVR for the ret...

Re: Should it be overhauled?
on the mechanical condition of 6000, the loco is in need of a costly heavy overhaul as during the last few years of mainline use it was well known for running "hotboxes" (most memorable was the failiure on the inaugral GWR 150 run with Hinton Manor (the manor also failed later on the trip)...

Re: The Blue King
Thanks for uploading the video am I right in thinking that only king was actually firing and the other was just a passenger? you are right, 6023 was doing all the work, but it had been sat outside the shed all morning after a problem with the safety valves while 6024 spent all morning on the demons...

Re: Bachmann Scenecraft 00 Art deco station
the main station building is based on the underground station at Sudbury town in middlesex http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudbury_Town_station , and the platform canopy's are from the station at Harrow on the hill station http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrow-on-the-Hill_station
hope this helps

Re: The Blue King
Hi Everyone just got back from Didcot, and I've finally seen all 3 preserved Kings in steam (at some point in my life), when I got to didcot, they said that 6023 had some "technical difficulties" with the safety valve, and wouldn't run to the afternoon (I hope it was genuine and not a ploy...

Re: 4492 Dominion of New Zealand (once Bittern)
it certainly does look stunning, reminds me of Marylebone in the mid 80's with Mallard and Sir Nigel Gresley (with Aluminium cab and tender lettering), pics are in this thread : http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Fo ... 32&t=27026

Re: The Blue King
for anyone interested, both 6023 and 6024 will be together on april 23rd at didcot, the first time since summer 1962. :) thats why I'm going at easter!! Didcot have kept that quiet so they can get more people at the launch of 6023 this weekend, and the 2 kings to boost numbers at easter cheers Stu
