Re: Improving conductivity and reliability with... a pencil

What controller are you using? Hello 21C1, In the video it's a modified GM UF just made on some matrix board to see if it's any different from the original version. You can see the three circuits here: https://www.scottpages.net/ReviewOfControllers.html Also a 'taster' here: https://ogaugemicro.blo...

Re: Improving conductivity and reliability with... a pencil

Hello all, I use a blunt Carpenters pencil the lead in these is oblong and quite hard. Model railway rail is extruded nickel silver, the extrusion dies can be made in two ways, spark eroding or wire eroding, The nature of machine tools being dependent on lead or ball screws and electric motors means...

The Micro layout 'mission creep'

Hello all, Anyone can call their layout a 'Micro' even if it's 8 ft long and of course they are quite entitled to do so. BUT A micro layout is 3 to 4 Square Feet or less with a reason for being, with operating potential and regardless of scale. Anything over that is a 'Small' layout up to 24 Square ...

Hello, I make micro layouts and always start by doodling plans on odd bits of paper. I then work out the movements in my head and if I can work them out straightaway then it will be boring to operate, I like shunting. Once I find something where I can't immediately imagine all the movements then I k...
