I've sorted the notching problem. The decoder was set to "Automatic" for this (CV 155=0). I've now set it to "Manual" (CV 155=2) and F6 notches up and F7 down. Takes a bit of getting used to as there's several levels, but it's very effective.
Thanks again,
Matthew

Re: Digitrax Sound Loader Software
Thank you both so much for taking the trouble to respond. Plenty to think about, but I suspect that it's not going to be as easy as I'd hoped.
Thanks again.

Re: Hornby HST Directional Lighting
Good point! Perhaps try switching decoders just to make sure it's nothing to do with them.

Re: Digitrax Sound Loader Software
Thanks for the prompt response. Yes I did, but it doesn't really say too much about using the software. At the moment the questions taxing me are: Can you upload a sound from a project to your PC? How do you re-assign sounds to different function buttons? Can I change the point at which the engine n...

Digitrax Sound Loader Software
Sorry folks, another question! Is there any sort of users' manual for Sound Loader software from Digitrax please? I can't make head or tail of it!
Thank you,
Matthew

Class 156 Sound Project for Digitrax Decoders
Hello there,
Does anyone know if there's a Digitrax sound project (.spj file) in the public domain for a Class 156 please?
Many thanks,
Matthew

Re: Digitrax SDH166D Sound Decoder
Ian, Yes, that's right - and I've already changed this, but still no joy. However, I (think!) I now know what the problem is. Basically, the Dynamis "sees" all of the locos on the layout when you turn it on. It picks them up one-by-one (you get the slight "grunt" from each loco a...

Re: Digitrax SDH166D Sound Decoder
Dave, Thanks for this. Yes, F8 mutes, which obviously helps a little, but what I can't seem to do is the equivalent of "F1" on other decoders, ie "start up" the engine from standing. If you look at my YouTube video, the Digitrax decoder starts up OK, but the only way I could get ...

Digitrax SDH166D Sound Decoder
Hello there, I'm hoping that someone can help me here please. I've upgraded the motor on a Lima Class 117 DMU to a Modeltorque one and I've also converted it to DCC running. Given that the model's not up to current standards, instead of using a LokSound or similar (expensive!) decoder, I've fitted a...

Re: Converting Lima Class 60 Body
Just to be clear, whilst the Class 60 I'm using with the old LIma bodies was originally the non-sound one, I've fitted a sound decoder and speake to it, so I get the required result. The frustration is that I'd also like to use the Lima bodies on the "sound" loco as well, but they aren't c...

Re: Converting Lima Class 60 Body
Contacted Hornby technical department who said that the X9406 and X9406M are the same, so I went ahead and bought some. You've guessed, they don't work. However, they do work on the non-sound version. So, I now have three variants of the spare Class 60 cab - all three work with the non-sound loco an...

Converting Lima Class 60 Body
Hello, I've converted a Lima Class 60 body to work on the newer Hornby model. The Hornby loco is the non-sound version fitted with a Howe's decoder. The lights come via the spare Hornby Class 60 cab (part number X9408 from the service sheet). All works fine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3urMh_RW8...

Re: Rear Lights on Hornby Class 60 Always On
I've ended up doing a highly technical fix - I've put tape over the two central connectors to the cab base! OK, so no red lights at all, but I hardly ever run light engine so no problem.

Re: Fitting "Stay Alive" Capability to a Hornby 08 Shunter
Hello again, I've been playing around with a couple of points by filing down the small plastic insulation sections slightly and it doesn't seem to make much difference. One thing I have noticed is that there's quite a bit of yaw on the loco - the wheel flanges aren't up tight against the inside edge...
