Without putting a downer on this, i find it highly unlikely that this is true. Where did these rumours start?
I know of two items that will be in next years catalogue, and possibly a third too. But this is the first i've heard of underground stock.

Not available yet, but Dapol have announced DCC fitted locos coming 'soon'. Farish have announced a DCC ready Jinty with 6 pin socket. No timescale yet but unlikely this year I would think. Also Dapol have a DCC ready 57xx in the pipeline. That doesn't help now, but nice to know they're coming. C. ...

I've got one and it's fantastic. very smooth and quiet runner and ran perfectly on Sheaf at TINGs last weekend

D9009 recently returned to service on the mainline. As with a fair few locos (47's, 55022 for example) they are passed for 100mph running.
