Re: DCC concepts loco lamps

Cracked it! After proving the circuit with an LED I still couldn't get it to work... So I tried it the other way having nothing to loose. And blow me the long leg is negative! For some reason all the red lamps are backwards. Perhaps because they are for the rear? Doesn't make electrical sense but th...

Re: DCC concepts loco lamps

The 50k resistor is a supplied item and helps the lamp effect. With a lesser value resistor it looks like a laser sight! I've tested the lamp on 12v DC and it works well. I'll try a basic LED and see it it works. Perhaps the resistor is too strong for the decoder?

Cheers FB ;)

DCC concepts loco lamps

I'm pulling my hair out here... I'm fitting a red DCC concepts lamp to a guard's van. And I cant get the bloody thing to work. I've fitted a few yellow lamps without issue but for some reason I'm having trouble with a pack of reds I picked up on ebay. The circuit is as follows using a basic Hornby d...

Thanks pnp :) I thought about that funny enough. All clearances have been tested with an A4 at top speed in both directions :)

Re: Cross connecting function wires?

Function 3 is controlling running lights so that's used already. Function 4 (F2 on control) on the purple wire I believe is a non latching momentary output. I was going to use it for cab lighting, but unless I'm modelling a bulb that blows every time the driver switches it on its not terribly useful...

Re: Cross connecting function wires?

Its a standard Hornby decoder that I don't believe supports function mapping. If anyone knows a CV to change to stop the direction reversing though I'll be happily proven wrong :)

Re: Cross connecting function wires?

I plan to use the white and yellow for red/white shunting lamps. And then the Green I have wired for running lights. Cheers man. Two DCC concepts lamps should be well within the output. Although four lamps are wired each function should only control two each. When reversing direction the decoder sho...

Cross connecting function wires?

While I'm learn the rules of DCC I just want to run one by you... I have fitted directional lighting to a shunter and I want to have both ends lit regardless of direction of travel. Can I wire the Yellow and White wires to the lamp negative and use the Blue return as normal. Provided function 0 is a...

Funny you say that, its a gaugemaster control I'm testing them with. Perhaps its the fact I have the unit near my head and they are fairly silent.

Transformer Grunt

I'm playing around with some servo's at the moment. Triggering four at once from the one switch results in a grunt from the transformer. It works fine but there is definitely a noticeable throb from the transformer. I just want to check Tha I'm not risking an overload. The transformer is a regulated...
