Re: Airfix\Dapol Turntable

It is possible to connect the rails on the rotating bridge to the inlet track... The clever bit is making the connexion in such a way as when the turntable bridge is rotated 180 degrees, a short circuit is avoided. Also if wires are used, they can get twisted. Some RTR turntables, such as the older ...

Re: Crazy Prices

A brilliant analogy....Pizza and Frisbee...

I agree... :)

If the package price had been £4.60, it would have been sold, and come home with me instead of watiting for another mug....ooops, I mean customer of course!. ;)

Dapol and Model Land kits...

Hi. I’ve just looked at the earlier thread started by Hornchurch... I thought that it would be better putting this here, rather than resurrecting the older thread... Dapol did acquire some of the Model Land tooling. For a time, they sold some kits under the “Dapol land” name. These kits used pre col...

Re: Model Rail bundle...

Hi all. I posted this elsewhere....7th August... We have just got back from a shopping trip to Sainsbury's. There was a very tempting offer in the magazines section. Model Rail magazine, in a bag with a copy of Britain's Model Trains. The Model Rail magazine is in the front, with a banner on the bag...

Yes, it seems that the Tri-ang Railways “Rocket“, introduced in 1963, was the first commercial Use of a split chassis design.

Re: Sarah's Workshop....

Thanks In fact I have not done much to this loco. Apart from fitting the DCC decoder, changing the couplings, fitting the crew, and the minor colour correction of the reverser, regulator handle, and gauge glasses, the loco is as it came out of the box. I like it, despite knowing that some details ar...

Re: Sarah's Workshop....

I managed to get hold of two Oxford Dean Goods chassis, from someone who was going to use the other parts to make something else! The plan was to use one under the Mainline body, and sort out ether a modification to the original tender, or possibly another model (The Tri-ang Lord Of The Isles Tender...

The Mainline Railways (Palitoy) "Dean Goods" (1982-1985) compared to the current Oxford Rail "Dean Goods"... The Mainline model has had new, narrow, tension lock couplings fitted in place of the Mainline pattern originals. https://i.postimg.cc/PqsNtxRZ/Photo0049.jpg https://i.po...

Re: Oxford Rail Adams Radial Decoder Problem

Hi Mike.

Thanks....

I do remember it has a small purple wire, like the Gaugemaster (but in theory most if not all ofthe decoders should have a purple wire!)

It is not wrapped, so unless any wrap was removed before it came to me....

I will have to dig it out sometime, and take a piccy! ;)

Re: Oxford Rail Adams Radial Decoder Problem

A "flat" direct 8 pin just fits....I think mine is a Bachmann issue....but not checked! Bachmann have not sold a direct fit decoder. Thanks for that.... It looks like a Bachmann decoder, in colour, etc... So, it will be another make....but my system doesn't read back CVs, so no use lookin...

Re: Oxford Rail Adams Radial Decoder Problem

Hornby Magazine December issue has an article on fitting a DCC sound decoder with stay alive to the Oxford Radial Tank... Some useful info in that article, whichever decoder you may end up fitting. I tried a DCC Zen Direct (with remote stay alive) but the decoder was too tall / thick to go in the b...

Brush Type 4 Co-Co (Class 47) D1677 'THOR'...

Something I have been working towards for some time now... A model of the Brush Type 4 Co-Co (Class 47) D1677 named 'THOR'... This was actually the second '47' to receive the nameplates (August 29th 1966), as the first, D1671 (September 1965), was scrapped after being involved in a fatal accident on...
