Re: My Pinterest board of free layout plans

Sorry to hear that guys. I've had Facebook for years, there are some great modelling and railway photography groups in there.

Pinterest seemed like a way of putting a load of plans online with having a website :(

Weighting down my models

Hi guys,

Looking for a quick bit of advice. I have a lot of nice rolling stock, mostly Bachmann. Made in China out of nice light plastic. What's the best thing to use as ballast to add weight to the models to make them run better?

Ta in advance.

Re: Loft layout

I think Jon talks a lot of sense. The plan as is gives you about 60% of the board usable for scenic developments. In addition as drawn the fiddle yard has two central roads that can be used for a continuous run. Thus two trains circulate while you shunt the yard/engine shed etc. In the plan intend t...

Re: Loft layout

I much prefer the second plan to. But I was trying to stick to a semi-brief Hornby track, sloping roof, large goods yard and endgine shed etc. But the second one is better. Just has less goods and smaller engine shed but that is more than made up for by the fiddle yard. You might want to swap it bac...

Re: Loft layout

Oh I'm glad you posted that up as it's quite a busy (i.e expensive) layout. Just a few notes, the station now has two loops. The mainline loops allow you to have one train in station and another passing. I've tried to use express points and Y points but it does mean that trains will need to slowdown...

Re: Loft layout

Is that done with Anyrail? Message me and I'll give you my email and I'll see what I can do with it. It's still basically an oval of track and some sidings. The sidings aren't arranged in a very practical way either. Operationally it could get quite dull. You also appear to only have one platform? H...

Knightwing - Light Signal Kit

Just looking in the shop at these. 4 for £11 seems good value. However has anyone any experiencing of turning them into actual working colour light signals? Is there for example a kit you can buy? Or are they a single solid moulded item which can't be converted? ta http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/...
