Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 51

Infrequent as ever, here's a few more pics of the ongoing kit builds; Whales; http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/Z061.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/Z062.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/Z066.jpg Turbot; http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/Z071.jp...

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 51

Thanks :)

I'm not sure when I'll be able to start on the layout exactly - the old one is pretty much a goner except for the boards and electrics.

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

Hi all, I've not had much time to focus on modelling recently, but have found time to progress with some of the kitbuilt wagons; http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/X004.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/L1am2/X011.jpg Cambrian Whale (the other end still needs sorting). http://i13....

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

Started painting the Whale and Sealion but having trouble with the airbrush. I think the problem is that I'm thinning with water after running out of lifecolor acrylic thinner recently. Looking around it seems you can use isopropyl alcohol which is cheap enough off ebay. Once I have this hopefully t...

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

I'm using acrylics - Tamiya yellow and I'll probably mix the grey. Railmatch do the dutch colours in enamels and acrylics (warning panel yellow and flit grey) but I'm sick of the fumes you get with the enamels.

Hope this helps.

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

Thanks :) Turns out I had less to do than I thought - the first Whale should get primed tonight and painted tomorrow :D  A pretty simple paint-job (just a coat of yellow, a strip of masking tape and the rest is grey) however I'll have to leave the handwheels off to be done separately since ...

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

Funny you should ask. I got used to using the brass rod with a parkside kit and it bent fine over a steel-rule. I ordered a whole load of it for these wagons and it snaps if you bent it over a metal corner so I've been using a plastic ruler which doesn't gouge a weak point into it. Then again, the C...

Re: Exmoordown TMD - Modern 00

Great work! The flask looks spot on - I don't suppose you'll be bothering with a Bachmann one

Re: Metrocamel's Layout- Modern Engineers wagons - pics page 50

Thanks. It's 00 gauge. The graffiti is hand drawn onto masking tape and then cut round with a blade for airbrushing – I usually go round it with a black disc marker for the borders although it looks shiny till its varnished. As for the lights, I'll post a wiring diagram when I have time but its real...
