Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
Now painted, some lichen laid on top to try, and temporarily installed on the embankment. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/daverandle/Mobile%20Uploads/20140323_144900_zps0rlvp3k8.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/daverandle/Mobile%20Uploads/20140323_155413_zpsyqo4balr.jpg Really pleased w...

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
Recently I gave been inspired by seeing other modellers making trees from cables, so today I decided to have a go for myself. I had an off cut of 8 core cable and formed a tree shape by twisting pairs together to form branches before split them. On other forums I have seen people then cover them wit...

Re: Chadwood - Modern 00 loft layout
Thanks Geoff. I bought this kit a few years ago but never got round to making it. I was never too sure about these plastic kits but I must say I have been quite impressed with this one. That is probably because I finally realised I need to take time preparing each piece, sanding and trimming any fla...

Re: Chadwood - Modern 00 loft layout
Been a bit bored lately as I haven't been able to get on with much on my First Avenue layout as it is shut in the shed and the weather has been awful. Waiting for planning permission to hopefully to get an extension built which will include a study / modelling room which will allow me to bring the l...

Re: The Ashbrooke Renewal Project by Whoshotjimmi
Hi James
Good to see Ashbrooke back and glad it has survived the move and storage. Doesn't time fly. I can't believe its 2 years since we saw your updates. Time to crack on and show us some progress now!

Re: Chadwood - Modern 00 loft layout

I wasn't sure my loft was really usable but I just managed to squeeze a layout between the beams.

Re: wet lichen
I have had the same problem. Lichen just seems to suck in the moisture in damp environments such as sheds or the loft. I sprayed the Lichen in my loft layout with cheap hairspray and that seemed to solve the problem. Unfortunately I forgot on my First Avenue layout which is stored in the shed and th...

Interesting video Geoff. I've never seen that uncoupling method before.
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it.

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
Thanks for the comment Shaun, very much appreciated. Geoff, yes Chadwood is still sitting there in the loft. In fact I went up inp the loft yesterday to fetch a couple of bits down and couldn't resist taking up my Hornby select and running a couple of trains around. Needless to say the track needs o...

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
I have been having a play with the airbrush and 3d printer this weekend, which has resulted in a little progress. I had already painted the fuel shed using the airbrush, so this weekend I have weathered it. Firstly it was given a thin white coat to make the paint look like it had been bleached in th...

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
Merry Xmas everybody. I hope Father Christmas brought you all lots of modelling goodies! He was good to me and brought me a cheap starter airbrush set (the £50 Lidl one) and I spent some spare Xmas money to buy a £20 dual action airbrush off Amazon to give me a fighting chance of achieving something...

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
Wow, is it really nearly 4 months since I last touched my layout? I have been rather distracted over the summer with DIY around the house and enjoying what seemed to be a fairly good summer weather wise. I also got distracted by finally treating myself and buying a RepRapPro Mendel 3D printer kit. M...

Re: First Avenue - Modern OO Freightliner - Now with sound
I managed to get hold of an old 19V laptop power supply yesterday from work and tried it today. It throws the points much better and think it will allow me to leave the springs in after all. Oh well, you live and learn! On a separate note, I have spent the afternoon playing Train Simulator 2013 afte...
