Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Hi Peterm, It is as near to accurate as we could make. One club member was going to climb the hill behind to get an accurate background, but he's never done it. It is slightly compressed, mostly the outer siding curved away more, but we would have a lot of space with nothing much around it. The sid...

Re: Frog wire length?

The only aspect I am concerned with is that the bond to the crossing is good. That's the vulnerable spot, Totally agree and given the thickness or rather thiness of the frog wire, Im bemused why the likes of Peco use it. I think in a couple of Larry Pucket's vids he uses Walthers points and they ha...

Re: DPD fail...

Gawd that is so annoying. I'm glad we don't have that 'leave it with a neighbour' nonsense in Australia. I wouldn't trust most of my neighbours as far as I could fling them. For anything of value or if it's delicate, I have things sent to my Parcel Collect at Bongaree. So far so good, but if I see ...

Re: Zimo MN decoders with a dinky stay alive included

[quote In an outbuilding, no household dust, pets, cooking vapour, fluffy clothing, towels, carpets, to generate airborne Layout operated every day I am home, and a railhead cleaning drag is used every session. Re: Zimo MN decoders with a dinky stay alive included

I'd say that this is one of those times that theory doesn't work in practice. I and others have tried using the small value cap that's supplied and it hasn't made a cracker of difference, and that's even worse (if it can be) with a sound decoder. Some say that there's no need for capacitors if your ...

I do like that layout, Geoff. Is it of the real Chard or fictitious?

Re: Zimo MN decoders with a dinky stay alive included

The included stay alive is really not worth having with it's tiny capacity. You'll notice no advantage unless you use something a lot larger, capacitance wise.

I use the daylight fluorescent tubes. These give good colour rendering which is good for normal use and photography.

Ordinary toggle switches is all you need. You won't be switching 5 amps.
