Re: A few pictures from the South

That convoy is quite a sight. I recall seeing something similar on the gen a few weeks back - I'm sure that had around 8 on it. Few more from yesterday - Oliver Cromwell paid a visit on the Cathedral's Express, and an amendment from Chichester to Portsmouth meant plenty of opportunities for pics. He...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

Great pic Thomas. I'd always make an effort to see these test trains - DRS 37s look good with the NR coaches.

Which loco is in the foreground? Looks a bit shinier than the ones I've seen, and particularly good with the compass livery! Is it a recent repaint? Are there others painted the same?

Re: Dave's Photo thread- ELR 37s

Good set of pics. Lovely day you had for it.

The strange light looks to me like glare - judging by the shadows you were shooting almost into the sun. A lens hood or a carefully placed hand might have helped. The problem might also be exaggerated by dust in the air on such a dry day.

Thanks! I don't imagine I'll see that many locos on a working again any time soon!

Re: A few pictures from the South

Excellent shot of the Holys - sun right side and cab front too! This will be my only freight soon as I move office on Friday! Nice shots at St Cross and MHR too! Thanks Dave. Good couple of days - hadn't seen a single thing since Eastleigh over a month ago! The line at Bedhampton runs north...

Re: A few pictures from the South

And one more... Holybourne tanks taken from the alternative Bedhampton bridge - maybe the best angle of all when the sun is shining. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e387/guitardave_1/Railway%20Pictures/66040.jpg Waited almost an hour and a half (god knows why ) for the Chichester stone, whic...

Re: A few pictures from the South

Planned a little outing today for the first time in ages. Tried out a new mainline location - not particularly busy but worth finding. Few angles available but a lot of trees meant quite tight head on shots. Also found a bit of a viewpoint of the Mid Hants Railway to get a pic for the competition. D...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

What a great spot! Certainly an unusual working and well photographed. Making me envious - I've not seen anything for about a month now, but determined to make an effort next week!

Re: Andi's Creativity Corner

Hi, No it was shot in colour then cropped and 'antiqued'. Thanks :-) Andi Works well - seems to give it a sort of duotone look. Nice shot as well - I have taken a few along the same lines in the past. There are plenty of great details, particularly on steam locos, that get overlooked and lost in pi...

Re: 47806 Goes Trainspotting

Everything that Dave said! Lovely shot in RH - top marks!

I had meant to submit some of my Eastleigh pics from the loco movements and open day, but never got around to it. If I say so myself, I think they were at least as good as some of those published.

Re: Dave's Photo thread- 40145

Cracking shots all round Dave, especially the 40. I like the sound of a '37 day' :) I didn't see a 40. But thanks anyway :)[/quote] I was expecting everyone else to be on my peculiar wavelength   I meant the one of 40145 from a few weeks back! For whatever reason I hadn't commented on it...

My Eastleigh 100 photos are now uploaded to my site. I won't post them all in this thread as well, but for anyone who wants to take a look you can find them here.
