Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

Well 3 years since my last posting on this topic, there was less time to spend on Model Railway modelling but is it an excuse... I was very surprised to find something similar to my project, 3 levels on 2 folding boards. I took only 3 pictures thought it gave me an incentive to continue my layout. I...

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

Thanks for sharing Mark those layouts are superb. I think I saw a video on Youtube of the very elongated one but after seeing several club layouts this can be something similar. In 10 years time (or even more) I intend to build something which will turn around my main room and that will sit over the...

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

Thanks Mark, that looks sidewise like the exhibition in Leytonstone just opposite the shop "the Engine Shed" I dont think I shared the pictures taken there. Hi Bufferstop I miss the UK exhibitions, eventually I will go back to Ally Pally for one of my monthly visit. My son is living with h...

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

That's quite a good place, the exhibition is for more than trains like what we have, there is some stamps and postcards stands to fill up some space as there is not enough modelers around in France.

Will you post some pictures of the layouts ?

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

Thanks Mark, the Museum is a nice place and this annual exhibition has become a perfect catching up with some fellow modelers. I hope that next year I will have my layout placed downstair, it was very hot near the beams of the roof and not only it was having an impact on the layouts I was constantly...

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

I forgot to mention that exhibiting is a very good way of sharing ideas, a lady explained to me that using some hairspray before varnishing my Lilac flowers would prevent even more the falling of the leaves and suggested as well some other type of flowers. I was thinking until Sunday that the transl...

Re: Fête du Train at La Chapelle

One year already. From Friday last week to Tuesday evening the 10th exhibition took place. I was not able to take as many photos as I was exposing too. The latest figures indicate around 2850 persons visiting with an overwhelming 1096 on Sunday. This year only 4 layouts and some displays like this G...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

First exhibition finished, I was not sure how the public would react to an uncompleted layout and it was far from being finished. On Sunday and today the museum was packed, 3000 people came in, I nearly lost my voice as there was so many asking the principle of the turntable / translator. The majori...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

I had to find an alternative to reach the deadline of the exhibition as the locomotive driven turntable wasn't working as I wanted. I tried another approach this time by using a chain thought the one that is displayed here isn't perfect too. http://www.brickworksdesign.com/pictures/SAM_1260_zpse6191...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

Before continuing to do some noise a picture update of the progress. The board is a piece of 18mm thick piece of wood measuring 40 x 200 cm. The pit has been cut by using a router turning around an axle. http://www.brickworksdesign.com/pictures/SAM_1252_zps659e664e.jpg The single weel and its struct...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

As a PS to that here's their website. http://www.bumpkinworld.co.uk/index.php Unfortunately the only picture of the steam-raising tracks doesn't show the traverser. (They probably think that no one on line would be interested.) Thanks for the information, I just finished to view the video's and the...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

Latest step cutting some flexitrack to length and soldering the droppers before gluing them in the axle. When I looked at the close up of the snapshot I realized that the level between the 2 sides wasn't perfect but the glue was not set and I have just added a weight which is rectifying the issue. h...

Re: Le bout du monde to Orford Road

Sometimes what seems like a walk in the park prove to be more difficult than I was imagining. The single track was holding well with the double sided tape though when put in place in it's circular shape a spring affect was closing the necessary gap around the switching zone. This picture is not the ...
