Re: Location?

...There seems to be a least 4 separate plumes of smoke too, maybe more. And it is very dense smoke too, that's what got my attention: pretty sure the picture was taken to show this smoke. With a Wrexham area wagon, the thought of the Gresford colliery disaster of 1934 came to mind. But I don't kno...

Re: Thankfully never produced

Thanks, that accounts for my never having seen such items while rummaging through the piles of s/h at shows and in model shops. So yet more proposed new introductions to the Wrenn range that never got past pretty pictures in catalogues. As I mentioned back in April, there must have been something pu...

Re: Thankfully never produced

...wrennemustove.jpg This is taken from a recently purchased mid 80's Wrenn catalogue (1985 is written on the cover in pen). I also bought the 1973 Wrenn catalogue, which also lists the Stove as a 'New' model. What a shame these never made it into production again... As one profoundly ignorant of w...

Re: Polarity problems

Assuming there are no other crossings in the helix, this plan is just a big circle. The only polarity change is the group of sidings connected by point C. He's right. As drawn the reverse loop is created by the crossover B-C. I would isolate point C from both points A and B and feed this section, i...

Re: Oxford Rail offer the J27 NER/LNER/BR 0-6-0

Further conflict reduction, the BR early crest version is likely to be with retailers this weekend. That will do for me, another pre-group 0-6-0 design well into the second half of its time in service. If no-one else gets their first, I'll probably have an appraisal of it by the end of August. (I al...

Re: What happened to Skytrex RTR O Gauge?

I had meant to follow this up, and have just got around to it. The guy who started Skytrex was a Loughborough dentist called John Hammond. (He got patients and others to privately 'invest' in his businesses, and it eventually turned out had piled up a debt in excess of £5 million.) It was clear enou...

Re: DCC trains

...Is there anywhere you can download the service sheets for these train as I am visually Impaired (registered Blind) and it is a lot easier if I can get a digital copy of the things so I can enlarge them to the max. Lendons of Cardiff maintain a very useful site with many of these from the RTR man...

Small model shops well off the beaten track too. Don't anyone think of going to the one in Holsworthy until I have paid a visit next week... ...'church hall' exhibitions... Those are not likely to restart until 2022, if our local situation is in any way typical. On top of the regular hires from Art ...

Re: The elink speed graph is skewed

As it's a Hornby DCC product question, I'd suggest the richest source of information may be on Hornby's own forum. Unlikely that you will be the only person to have had this experience.

Re: Triang R357

It's necessary to stay away from the mainstream, to obtain old s/h at sensible prices. Between the retailers and online auctions, the price of old s/h has been grossly inflated in the wake of rising prices of current models. But look elsewhere and reason prevails. This site has a good for sale secti...

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, J5

These were the penultimate GNR general service 0-6-0 design, with a recognisable lineage back to Stirling's (he of 8 foot single fame) 0-6-0 of 1867. The final design was the (LNER classification) J6 of 1911, a piston valve and superheated development of the J5 , and that was the end for the GNR 0-6...
