Re: Coach reliability

Replace the plastic wheel sets with metal ones. Better still, if the bogies can be removed, replace them with the modern ones.

You could also add weight, but too much weight could/will cause the locomotive to struggle to pull a decent rake of coaches.

The brass screw holding the armature in place may be over tighten.
Back the screw off a eighth/ quarter of a turn until the armature turns freely.

Re: Triang 3F Jumping On Points.

To do this properly then I guess I need a 'back to back' gauge. But there seems to be some debate as to whether it should be 14.4mm or 14.5mm The loco is MIB 1965 model so I am reluctant to mess it about too much but I do want to run it otherwise there is no point in having it. Am I right in thinki...

Re: TRIANG CONTROLLER RP4.5

That controller dates from 1963, and cost 39/6d or £1.97&1/2p in modern money.

Take Flashbangs advise, bin it as it's not worth attempting repair.

Re: Improving Hornby Railroad Teaks

To answer your question, yes they will fit both Hornby and Bachmann Mk1 coaches. Bacmann's wheels of recent manufacture are very good though. Whatever you do, I suggest you stay well clear of the offerings from Hornby because of the terrible flange profile! It really is a pity that they insist on m...

Re: New Silver Hornby Controller Gave Me An Electric Shock

Disconnect the controller from the track and touch the rails.
Do you then get a shock ? if yes, then it's not the controller that is causing it.

It will then be down to the surface you are walking on or the type of clothes you are wearing.

Re: Dapol / Airfix / Mainline - Same Company ?

It's a bit more convoluted than that. Let's start with the airfix mk2 coach. Was airfix, then dapol and now hornby (current) Class 45, mainline first, then replica then bachmann (not the current one) Class 56 , mainline then dapol then hornby (again not the current one) Airfix mk1s then mainline th...

Hi All, Apologies if this has come up before, but i'm a bit new to this railway modelling stuff and a have only had experience a long time ago of Hornby and Lima. Can somebody tell me if Dapol, Airfix and Mainline are all actually the same company, or do they just make very similar products? Please...
