Sounds like a great idea for a layout Ollie, don't forget that you can run pretty much any preserved steam loco on it as the SVR gets visiting locos at special events (I always find the Autumn Gala is good for seeing some unusual engines).

Awdry had models of most of the engines in the books, but none of them had faces. This is worth remembering if you don't want the hassle of making faces for yours. You seem to have looked into the prototypes of the Skarloey engines a lot but I'd say you'll need kits for Talyllyn (Skarloey), Dolgoch ...
