Thank you for your kind comment. Also thanks for the pictures :) Very inspirational and extremely detailed :) Very impressive I must say! You have the points rodding and everything included! I found this website useful when doing my version of Goathland station: http://www.scenicmodelrailways.com/pa...

Re: Goathland - Ed's Layout! UPDATED 23/03/10

Hey Everyone Finally managed to get some work done on the layout. Finished wiring up the new points and got the control panel re-wired! So 20 points later and lots of frustration wiring up switches etc. I now have a fully functioning layout and control box again :) Also my username has changed to ed...

Re: Goathland - Ed's Layout! UPDATED 23/03/10

Well didn't get too much done on the railway last night. In school today for the first time in like a year. Was asked to pop along and say hi to everyone and catch up. It's a bit of a trip down memory lane but it's nice to see everyone again. Sitting in the food room at the moment where it's nice an...

Re: Goathland - Ed's Layout! UPDATED 23/03/10

Hehe lol, not got a huge amount done yet. Been at work a lot of the time so far (Friday night, Saturday night, this morning and also got another shift tonight) let the money roll in though I suppose :) Spent all of the time I've had on the layout finding all the bits and bobs I need to wire these po...

Re: Goathland - Ed's Layout! UPDATED 23/03/10

Well such a long time since an update. I am off for summer holidays now and I am determined to at least achieve a tiny bit on the layout. Even if it is just getting the new points motors wired up and the control panel altered. And getting the signals mounted and all of the track ballasted. Hoping to...

Re: Copper Tape Question

We used this stuff in my middle school and I think I have a huge roll of it kicking around somewhere. As has already been mentioned the glue layer will insulate it unfortunately but a little blob of solder connecting the two pieces will be fine. Just overlap them and maybe if you want to be doubly s...

Re: Castle Cross- Seeing Double Double (P43)

Wow Ben! Some great updates there! :D I looked through your whole thread as I've not seen it in ages and its brilliant! Keep up the great work! I just wish I could do more on my layout but being at university and at work at the weekends I seem to find very little time to even go up the loft and play...

Re: Some NRM Xtrkcad threads condensed into one

I think you need to change the zoom level to change the appearance of the track, ie zoom in to get the sleepers displayed. The pink sections indicate that the curvature of the track is too severe for the type of track you have selected. It's possible to alter the settings to eliminate the pink sect...

Re: Installing Hornby Turntable on Baseboard

If anyone has a Dremel then I think maybe this would be of some use? Make sure of course that there are no supporting sections under where you are going to cut it and also no wires etc. Then all you need to do is drill a small hole in centre and use the Dremel rotary attachment to cut a circular hol...

Re: Some NRM Xtrkcad threads condensed into one

Sorry to bring up an old thread! I haven't used XTrkCAD in ages and ive opened up an old file of mine: layout1.PNG I would like to know how to get a snapshot as such of the plan? I have tried to export as a bmp but I can't seem to get the export to look like this: layout2.PNG And how do I get...

Sorry everyone... not been on here much at all recently and I haven't done a huge amount on the layout I'm afraid :( I've finally tested my idea with the signals and ballasting now... so I just need to make sure non of them foul with any ...

Re: Goathland - Ed's Layout! UPDATED 23/03/10

No problem :) We all make mistakes... but yes... I see where you are coming from if you thought that I had used a female connector on the power supply side. Ive accidently managed to short ground and +12 on the PC power supply that I am using and it gave quite a zap before the overload cut in. Then ...
