Re: Detailing a Farish BR Mk 2 Coach (NSE livery)

Probably not that useful a shot really, but it does show the roof detail that I've added/removed and the difference it makes; I've filed off the access hatches to the Mk2bs and added air vents using the domed tops of Peco trackpins inserted into holes drilled through the roof. One essential peice of...

Re: Trough Fiddle yard

I've managed to find a solution, and I've done away with all the chamfered wood bits and contacts, the most simple solution was staring me in the face the whole time: Create a cradle out of the aluminium angle that the troughs were made of! This also provides good electrical contact from the layout ...

Trough Fiddle yard

Hi all, I am currently designing and building a fiddle yard that uses the trough system on my new N gauge layout, in order save cleaning time, setup time and space when it comes to exhibitions. I'm aiming to use two chamfered wood peices with brass contacts at the point where the trough will meet th...

Re: Dapol Hymek

Nice one Dave, I'll have a look at that when I next get a minute. Glad it can be sorted without any major surgery!

Cheers,
Benn.

Re: Dapol Hymek

Nice one Dave, that'd be most appreciated. If I can work out exactly what it is that's stopping the body from sitting right on the chassis, I'll whip a file out and get it fixed. I think it's another case of "Nice one Dapol", though if there's large batches of them out there with this issu...

Dapol Hymek

Hi, I've just bought a model of D7001 and the chassis is sticking out below the body line, and I can't seem to get it to sit correctly so that it's hidden. The one on the Hattons page seems to suffer from the same issue; http://www.ehattons.com/34804/Dapol_Model_Railways_ND084r_Class_35_Hymek_D7001_...

Re: Dapol 2012

I'd like to see some of the things already promised a few years back to be delivered before anything new to be honest. There's a few models that I'm waiting for personally, one of which is a key loco on my new project.

Re: Dapol Semaphores

Ha, yes Alan, I was being polite... It's nothing less than a catastrophic **** up in my eyes, that's like "My first railway book" stuff. I wanted a distant on my layout, I will now have to wait until that's corrected as I take great pride in getting things correct (To the best of my knowle...

Dapol Semaphores

Hi all, I'm going to purchase two of the Dapol GWR Lower Quad Home Semaphores tomorrow, and was just wondering if anyone knows what switch is required to operate them? Will it be an On-On, or a bias On-off-On? ...or neither? Apparently the distant version has a Red-Green spectacle lense arrang...

Re: New Farish 2012 models announced!

I think we can safely say that it's an utterly mega addition. With the introduction of the GUV and BG in the next month or so, and the existing Farish TPO vehicles and the Dapol PNV and Ex-Fish Van, the CCT and LMS brake pretty much finish off the NPCCS BR Blue parcels fleet for the 60s onwards (Whe...

Re: New Farish 2012 models announced!

Did anyone else notice the LMS 50' full brake listed on the website if you scroll through, how long as that been there, is that new? I haven't noticed it before... I'd defo like one in neglected maroon and one in dirty Blue, but it looks like I'll have to sort the blue one out myself with a spray ca...

Re: Accessory Switches on point motors - Peco or Seep?

Ok, scratch that, I'm now thinking of the Cobalt motors... Half the size so I can stick with me 3"x1" timber frame, same price, and they're available from my local model shop. Nice.

Re: Accessory Switches on point motors - Peco or Seep?

Cheers for all the info guys. I'm slowly persuading myself to have a complete U-turn in my decision and go for the Tortoise motors! Although they are about a 3:1 ratio on cost over the Seeps, I think the reliability and the removal of the issue of pin-point positioning when it comes to contacts on t...

Accessory Switches on point motors - Peco or Seep?

Hi all, I am starting to get things together for a new layout, and I will be modifying points with switches as to eliminate blade contact issues. Could anyone advise from their own experience, which are more reliable, the SEEP motors or the Peco ones? I'm preffering SEEP at the moment due to the fac...
