Re: Horsted Keynes - East Ginstead, OO gauge
saw something similar to your outside track in RM years ago, they had put sides and a removable lid on it, with lips on the lid extending downwards slightly to keep water out. enabled running in the rain, but removable for maintenance and when something derails. not sure how bothered you are by all ...

I'm sure with practice, and written permission you could stop in a few more. just avoid the bovver boys with the clamps and be'reeightTaw Valley wrote:Really?hobby boy wrote:With 3 stations you can have 3 different places to stop at.

Re: Going underground...
the tight curves will be "hidden", got the first scenic section based around 25' curves.. in 2mm. essentially straight track but figured the prototype has a slight bend so why not. having run N gauge stock on 48" curves I was sold (had more space then). not 100% sold on the finescale ...

Re: Hollycroft - N Gauge First Attempt - Beerandpies
what is this planning of which you speak?
actually there is an advantage to doing it this way, it doesn't look as contrived. essentially you end up with a station laid out "where it fitted" as opposed to looking like the station came before anything around it.

Re: Mike loft layout of Grimsby-Cleethorpes 00
modern image forget the turning, diesels don;t need it and nor do the multiple units, makes life easy :-) six of them hoppers is a nice train, ok the real ones have 20 odd, but six is enough to look in proportion, the trick I think is to make the freight trains longer (obviously) than the passenger ...

Re: Mike loft layout of Grimsby-Cleethorpes 00
thinking if the terminus has steam trains something like a turn table to turn them round. for diesels you obviously don't need this, just somewhere to stable a spare one or two. for modern multiple units you don;t even need that. and no it doesn't sound stupid... I know this, in theory, and still ca...

Re: Hollycroft - N Gauge First Attempt - Beerandpies
subway would work, but a bridge would be "cheaper" these days, if modern enough a pair of concrete towers with lifts (one could be inside a station building) then the bridge span and then the stairs. for something older forget the lifts (and disabled access) no reason you can't have a brid...

Re: Mike loft layout of Grimsby-Cleethorpes 00
well theres a chance you could do with locomotive turning at the terminus, and possibly an escape crossover at the end of the two longer platform roads (I wouldn't bother though as you loose maybe two coaches from a train to use it) otherwise it seems ok, but a quick guide, draw it out (or print it)...

Re: Another One... under the axe
well the day has come. earlier today the electrics were disconnected for the final time, with a pair of cutters since the cabling is not slated for salvage. by the end of next week the only sign this was ever here will be the boards, been wondering about salvaging them, but the wood is poor quality ...

very nice, has that "used" look about it that some people miss.
still love that gloriously wide platform, adds a very real touch to the station area

Re: Going underground...
ok, checking with the bods on the 2mmFS web forum email thingy, looks like 18" curves should work if I build locos with that in mind, conversions should be fine. looking like this will be made on a budget, but should be able to start sooner than expected, also will be keeping the website after ...

Re: Mike loft layout of Grimsby-Cleethorpes 00
weeeeeellllll you can do bit of automation with the Hornby kit, though you need decoders that support either ABC braking (lenz) or "brake on DC", then a couple of switches. e.g. put a braking zone adjacent to a signal and controlled from the same switch. or a vastly more basic version... h...

Re: Spavo's 4th Attempt At N Gauge Heaven.......
lack of off stage storage, but with enough on stage storage this probably isn't a problem, only issue being storing coaches to allow freight trains to run.
but nice
