GWR King class loco coming to N Gauge from DJM

The biggest of the GWR's heavy express locos is finally coming to N Gauge to replace the tired Poole-era Farish offering. Here are the details from the DJM Website. http://djmodels.co.uk/?page_id=47 http://djmodels.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/HK12-HK13.jpg I’ve decided to go ahead with this, to...

Re: Dapol (N gauge) Bullied Pacific and Schools

The last I heard was around march that the Light Pacifics were about 12 months away. However I believe they have been about 12 months away for quite some time. :( We have seen EP shots for the Grange which is due around the end of the year. I will not believe any dates for the SR locos until we see ...

Re: N Gauge Society announcements

We now have some photos of the livery samples for the K41s (reposted with Ben's kind permission). These are just samples so issues such as wobbly lining should not appear on the production runs. In addition, we have already identified the following issues that need to be addressed. [li]Wrong shade o...

Re: N Gauge GWR Railcar Kickstarter project with DJ Models

DJ Models have unveiled the EP for their first locomotive, a 00 gauge J94 saddle tank. This helps to give an indication of the quality of work we will be able to expect on the Railcar.

Re: N Gauge GWR Railcar Kickstarter project with DJ Models

I can shed a little light on the situation regarding Dave's "no new models" statement. The models he has announced so far account for his working capital meaning that he has no further fund to develop new models until he starts to sell some of the already-announced ones. Commissions are a ...

Re: Scale colours?

Would this also be the reason "pristine" locos have a matt/satin finish rather than a gloss like the ultra shiney 1:1 scale locos? Yes Reflections don't scale well because you will be getting a reflection of a 1:1 light or window reflected on a 1:148 model which tends to destroy the illus...

Re: Cavendish overlays?

I think that the Cavendish range passed via tortuous paths into the hands of Alan Cox of Etched Pixels. However I don't think any of them are currently in production. I would suggest dropping him a line to see if he can help you. Just be aware that he is moving house at the moment so it may be some ...

Re: Dapol n gauge ICA bogie china clay tankers

Looks like you are in luck. The current flow from Antwerp to Irvine uses the same (or at least very similar) style of silver bullets to the Dapol model. https://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_dentons_linesidephotos-europe/12830716963/in/faves-99279135@N05/ Still absolutely filthy so make sure you go fo...

Re: Dapol n gauge ICA bogie china clay tankers

I believe that silver bullets are running again to Irvine but I am not sure which version. IIRC there have been 2 or 3 different builds of silver bullets and I am not sure if the Dapol ones are the ones currently in use. Personally I think the Dapol models are so nice (particularly the weathered one...

Re: NEM Dapol Conversion

You said something about orienting one south upwards and the other north upward (or something like that) but I can't tell anything from the tiny magnets about their polarity. Yes, the polarity is vital for getting this to work. The Dapol magnet is made to be the correct way, if you are doing it you...

Re: NEM Dapol Conversion

If you are happy to run fixed rakes then you do not need to replace all the couplers. You only need to do one coupler on the outermost vehicles and leave Rapidos on the rest. Then the loco can uncouple from its train and run around. You might want to go a little further and put magnetic couplers on ...

Re: NEM Dapol Conversion

I used impact adhesive (evo-stick or similar) to fix mine. It sticks to most types of plastic, it retains some flexibility for a few minutes after sticking to allow fine tuning. On a couple of my early conversions I waited until the adhesive had set and then test the coupling. Once I was happy with ...
