Re: Hornby 0-4-0 chassis
Bill and Ben have a different chassis to the other 0-4-0 locomotives, although they share several parts, including the motor. As I understand it, they have gearing to reduce the speed they run. As for fitting the chassis to an 06, it might be possible but I'm not convinced. They are massively over-s...

Re: The 00 6'x4' trackplans thread
My contribution: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7244/7067116517_3f65931e2b_b.jpg The basic layout consists of the two towns on a small branch or light railway, somewhere in a rural area. Each occupies half of the board, and are separated by a backscene in the centre of the board. The plan is adapted ...

Re: Help planning track layout
What else is in the loft? If you can find room, it may be better to add the shed somewhere else, away from the station, which would give you the rest of that straight to have a bigger station (unless it's already big enough for 12+ coach trains), as well as separating the sheds from where the public...

Re: Trying to get off the ground ! GWR & LNER Terminus
It looks like a nice plan, small but potentially very busy. There's a couple of things I've noticed that detract from it though, at least for me: 1) The crossover between the two running lines at the station entrance is in an awkward position. As it, if there isn't another one just out of view, ther...

Re: Central Yorkshire Preserved Railway
The Peco platform is completely different to the Hornby version. The Hornby versions are complete sections of platform pretty much entirely in grey, whereas the Peco version is a black top (which can be cut to more than one width) which is attached to cream edging sections (You can also get the edgi...

Re: Blagdon Yard - Mini OO Layout
This looks good. I like the idea of using the table, just a shame I don't have room for one. A thought about the track plan. If you used a curve in the headshunt, so that it followed the curve of the points, could you make it slightly longer? With a layout this size, the most interesting thing to do...

Re: i want to have ago but...
If you want Ready-to-Run, the closest to British style in 009 is probably the Roco 0-6-0 Diesel. It was about £40 or so last time I checked, and will obviously depend on where you get it from. It doesn't look too out of place for a quarry. Actual welsh narrow gauge will need kit building. Most of th...

I like the 4' 1 1/2" narrow gauge idea. The stock looks nice as well, especially that 4 wheel brake coach.
Any chance of a track plan?

Re: Planning for my First Layout: Poll Added
It depends on where you're positioning the layout. If you'll be able to get into that corner easily then having it 'active' is a good idea, since it adds interest. If that part's going to be hard to get to it may not be so practical, since uncoupling and derailments may be problematic

Re: i want to have ago but...
Which scale did you want? Also, do you want ready-to-use equipment or are you willing to (at least have a go at) doing some of it yourself? You're probably better off asking in the classified section. Even then there aren't that many narrow gauge modellers that are active on here, or at least there ...

That's actually a clockwork Thomas body on the 0-4-0T chassis.
Still, I'd like the Nellie type back as well, or maybe the old dock shunter.

victorian locos like locomotion, planet, puffing billy etcc. even rocket These aren't actually Victorian engines - they're older than that. These came from the 1820's, whilst Victoria didn't ascend to the throne (and thus the Victorian period begin) until 1837 [/history nitpick] They'd still be nic...
