Re: What's your favourite railway book ?

The books by Harold Gasson, Firing Days, Footplate Days, Nostalgic Days and Signalling Days. All really good accounts of his time as a GWR fireman and BR signalman.

I've kept an eye in here from time to time but haven't been very vocal! Not had much to say, as things are now getting momentum I should be about a bit more hopefully!

Re: PeterH's Great Central themed layout. A REAL update! P.6

Well, it has been a very long time since I last posted here. I have now got a full circuit of boards up, with track now being lain as well. Probably about 60% of the track is now down - then the fun of wiring it all up... Below are photos showing the current situation of things. http://i165.photobuc...

Re: PeterH's Great Central themed layout. A REAL update! P.6

How time flies! Has it really been over a year since my last update? Slowly getting on with it. I've not quite got a full circuit yet, but I certainly intend to soon! I've ordered some telescopic trestle legs for the second station scene, just then need to get the final removable corners done and we...

Re: PeterH's Great Central themed layout. A REAL update! P.6

Oh cruel fate! I saw an advertisement in a model railway magazine for a 00 gauge charabanc. It wasn't until I was having my breakfast this morning that I realised it was a dream!

Re: PeterH's Great Central themed layout. A REAL update! P.6

I didn't manage to find a kit unfortunately. It will have to be an adapted model affair. The Oxford Diecast open-top double decker is what I have considered for a basis, although I will consider the other suggestions. Back to the railway, I've ordered some more points for the station, a set of mediu...

Laid the first bits of track today. Re: Hornby P2 #2001 "C0ck of the North"

A video of the main range version (R3207) on the SWHMRS test track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phyttkFEVKo In general I am moderately pleased with the model. A few niggles though, the main two being the tender drawbar is either too short or far too long. One setting doesn't go around bends and ...

Re: New Railway Modellers Shop

I've just had my first purchase as well - the higher detailed P2 model. I ordered it on Friday and it arrived this morning. Excellent delivery considering the Sunday as well. It was also at an extremely reasonable price - considering my Hattons order was cancelled... jolly good stuff!
