Re: Ffestiniog "Prince"

Not a bad effort on what is quite a fiddly kit to assemble is some respects, particularly doing the Fleischmann conversion. I hope you don't mind me providing a little painting tip for you, as I notice from you latest photo that the black of the footplate has ridden slightly up the side of the saddl...

Re: Moel Eilio - OO9

Well, all three Quarryman coaches are now runners, and have their brake gear in place. Two of them are also weighted and have had door handles attached (novel use of chain links!), and the other one will follow soon.

Re: Moel Eilio - OO9

Seems a while since I last posted, and to be honest I haven't really done much. I've just been working on a rake of three Ffestiniog Quarryman Coaches from Parkside Dundas. They have been sitting around in my kits box for ages and I figured they'd probably be quite suitable for the rather short plat...

I filed those down slightly too on my chassis.

I got my handrail knobs from Alan Gibson http://www.scalefour.org/ag/index.htm

My model of Princess ended up looking like this: http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t102/Curious_Orange_NSC/Moel%20Eilio/princess.jpg The chassis was filed down about 1.5mm at the cylinder tops (basically so that they were level with the upper slide bar), and the two corner lugs that jut out at the ...

Here are some photos: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj29/Clifton009_2007/Rolling%20Stock/Prince2.jpg I think it looks fairly level & balanced. Might drop the body another 1mm? Don't want to make a mess of it though as it looks ok now, just the loco body is a touch too high vs the tender. A...

... forgot to mention, I think the wheels supplied for the tender are rubbish, and I'd highly recommend replacing them with some curly spoke ones from Parkside Dundas.

I shall watch this thread with interest. I found that kit quite "challenging" to construct as I wanted it to appear, mainly due to the quality of the casting and the big gaps that it left!! I can see that you haven't cleared the flash out of the spectacles yet, I used a broach to do that. ...

Well, I've embedded a couple of magnets into the track, and now I'm busy making up a WW1 box van with Greenwich couplings to try them out.

Elsewhere, my Kerr Stuart diesel is just about complete, and work continues on the signal box and a Ratio starting signal that I bought a while back.

Whisper it quietly, I've pretty much finished the Kerr Stuart. It's been painted, I'm half way through attaching the couplings, then there is just the lettering, putting the pipework for the sanding equipment back, and then a coat of varnish.

Okay I thought it was time for an update on the layout, if nothing else at least to prove that I do more than just fiddle about with locos. So here is a shot of the developing interior of the Signal Box: http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t102/Curious_Orange_NSC/Moel%20Eilio/phpJoPDQCPM.jpg Things t...

Now that is a nice shot, I wish I had room for an engine shed on my layout.
