Just a suggestion, having done a similar job on my Caley 0-4-0, try a spot of matt varnish on the top - gives it a nice flat sooty texture to contrast with the oily look around the wheels and motion

Oh I do like that layout, looks very convincing and obviously not too much compression. Nice to link it into the prototype. Look forward very much to seeing more.

Can't help you on guttering but the best thing for drain pipes are the small plastic straws you get with soft drink packages like Capri-Sonne. These are also quite useful for the plastic piping used to protect cables running under tracks.

Dead impressed with the weathering on both the track and the wagons. is the crane the old Airfix turned Dapol kit. I remember building one of those when I was a kid.

Exciting stuff indeed and I look forward to more. I'm not at all surprised at your troubles with the handbook; the proof reading and editing in the catalogue is shockingly bad and allthat comes down to is putting the right bit of text with the right picture, so how they do with real text... :roll:
