Re: The Bluebell Railway - Sheffield Park in N Gauge

Thanks Guys,

I had a few ideas for a 'could have been' layout, but as you say, it's hard to imagine every detail.

Certainly seen Mattmay's work, maybe Horsted Keynes will be next on my list :)

The Bluebell Railway - Sheffield Park in N Gauge

Hi Guys, Most of you will probably know me from my fiNetrax project, but I have now (after many years) decided on a layout idea/location to get my teeth into. Being a Sussex man born and bred, I have decided to model The Bluebell Railway - a well known preservation railway that spans 11 miles across...

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Hi Guys, I have spent the last 2 weeks learning how to use my new 3D printer, which I was planning to use to print crossing frogs in resin, ready for lost wax casting. I have made not so bad progress, as seen below: http://www.shoot35.com/modelrailwaytrackimages/frog01.jpg http://www.shoot35.com/mod...

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Hi, The 3D printer arrived and I have only just got it up and running. Bit of a learning curve and I am not yet sure if it will be up to the job of printing the the required quality reliably & repeatable. Either way, I think I want to aim to make a Silicone Rubber mould of each frog angle, ready...

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Hi Dave,

I did attempt extra chair detail but the chairs are just too damn tiny :D Each chair is only 0.9 x 0.6mm.

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Thanks Ben,

It is loose in that the rail can lean either side of upright - its a tooling/injection moulding issue and is currently being fixed so not a problem :) Next samples should solve it!

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Hi Guys, Plain track base samples are in! Looking good so far, rail is too loose in the chairs however. This is being worked on now by the toolmaker, he believes higher pressure is needed when injecting. Anyhow, here are the initial pictures: http://shoot35.com/modelrailwaytrackimages/DSC_5442s.jpg ...

Hi,

So long as you are using modern made stock with finer flanges, I don't see why not. Note that it is based on UK bullhead rail though.

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track Syste

Been a while since I posted anything on here, but I am making progress! I have managed to take some pics of the first prototype, a B6 :) The cool thing is that the chairs are not even glued to the base, they are staying in place under friction (they will of course be glued with solvent). The frog is...

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track System

Hey, Little update. I have received samples of both a milled base and also an etched 1 in 6 frog :) Bellow shows the base sample: http://www.shoot35.com/modelrailwaytrackimages/base01.jpg http://www.shoot35.com/modelrailwaytrackimages/base02.jpg http://www.shoot35.com/modelrailwaytrackimages/base03....

Re: 'Gauging' Interest- New Fine code 40 N Gauge Track System

I would definitely use Ray since he has made 4 moulds for plain track for the 2mm acc. and 2 for the 3mm acc/soc. He already knows all of the tolerances for the rail and I know I will get a good result :)
