Re: Phred's hodge-podge

That was a quick move! 8)

Thank heavens for Rule 1!

Some of the stuff on there is definitely quirky. In fact some stuff is verging on Steam Punk, especially the modifications I made to some of the toy cars, etc.

Re: Log cabin on a budget

I like it!

I have a heap of material that is exactly the same as wooden skewers (but about three feet long) which I salvaged from some old panel blinds, so this is giving me some ideas.

Re: Phred's hodge-podge

Oh! Just realised this in the wrong section. :?

If someone can move this to Personal Layouts - Under Construction, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance, Phred :)

Mod edit: sorted, you are welcome

Phred's hodge-podge

Here is my layout, which could more properly be called a display board since I only got into model trains as an excuse to build the trackside buildings, which I find fascinating for some reason. But then I caught the train bug so I now have more locos than I know what to do with. 1.jpg The materials...

Re: Track ballast and static grass question

For a little narrow gauge layout that I've started, using N gauge track, I bought a bag of 'washed river sand' from Bunnings, the Australian equivalent of Homebase. I sifted it through three different sized sieves until I found a grain size that looked right. Cheap as chips, except that chips are no...

Re: January's Project Rolling Road

Nice work! And I like the thinking process to make it happen.

When I can't sleep, I often set myself to thinking about how to make something or other. Then I sleep like a baby, which is to say I wake up every two hours with gastric reflux, but you know what I mean.

Re: A lurker flushed out...

Dad-1, I am grateful for your sister's work to help the bats (I'm assuming they were fruit bats, not the little diddy ones). Most people just want them wiped out even though they are crucial to the environment. The Greater Brisbane area was an absolute paradise of zoological and botanical wonders wh...

Re: A lurker flushed out...

Funny that we have got around to wallabies. A couple of decades ago we lived on a property in the hills just west of Brisbane and I used to always check the pouches of HBC (hit by car) wallabies. I took any surviving joeys home to my long suffering wife who made special pouches so that she could car...

Re: A lurker flushed out...

Just my coprotic sense of humour, don't be offended. I'm pretty hard to offend, Bigmet! I knew what you meant, I was just being silly. :D my grandson thinks there should be kangaroos there My layout is a weird hodgepodge of stuff but no-one seems to think it strange that an Ivatt is working al...

Re: A lurker flushed out...

Hi Bigmet, I'm not sure if Norbert is referring to a cure for constipation? An undersea tunnel does sound intriguing but the minister for development, expansion and finance may not approve it. She has already bullied me into one corner of the hobby room to make space for her sewing paraphernalia. :c...

Re: A lurker flushed out...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'll try and start a thread or two when I can get a break between my other hobbies (aquariums, the garden, my wife, my grandkids, blardy blar).

A lurker flushed out...

Hi all, I've been following this forum for years now and have gained an enormous amount of useful information. Thanks for that! The recent comments in the 'Is this site in decline' thread have finally shamed me into coming out into the light. I would hate to see this place fade away as I visit almos...
