Re: Hattons closing down

Just been looking around the website. Wow! So much stock already gone, in just 2 days already! I've got some stuff in my trunk and was hoping to add to it, but there isn't much there now. Ironically I cancelled my Accurascale Class 37 pre-order on Sunday before the announcement. Hope that didn't pus...

Re: Hattons closing down

I've seen the reports by Charlie Bishop regarding the return of items and the Class 37 issue that a Hattons customer had. I try to keep the whole thing in perspective.Given the huge number of orders they must (have) processed there are going to be slip ups or mistakes. OK how they deal with it is a ...

50% price reduction

I'm not modelling in O gauge myself but whilst browsing for deals on my main German supplier I noticed these and some other offers on O gauge locos with what appear to be some impressive price reductions. Of course, despatch costs and import taxes might need to be factored in, but even so, these mig...

Re: Anyone currently buying?

The model 37 with sound is in incredible $600. I had a look on the big H, and prior to adding international shipping plus AU GST on top, all Class 37s were sold out on pre-order. Closest price I could see was GBP£259 & not sure if that price is representative of the more popular BR Green liveri...

Re: Anyone currently buying?

My German supplier Modellbahn Union have been running an 'Halloween' campaign with reduced prices on some items. I ordered a 3 wagon set of the Hornby OO MHA 2 axle spoil wagons, new, at 50 quid. They came today. I was surprised how charming they actually are! Excellent detail and lightly weathered ...

Re: Bonkers 'pre owned' pricing?

I actually just noticed they are offering an EFE Class 58 OO pre-owned for 159. Now you can get the EWS livery one of these, new, for 104 now and I think Kernow have this grey/red stripe model new at 124. In fact, Kernow have one of the EWS 58's + 2 new Bachmann Seacows for 169 as a package all up! S...

Cookies?

Just tried to log in and was greeted by a cookie confirmation request box. Never had this on here before. Something new? I hate this particular one as it is an 'accept all' or 'confirm choice' deal. All the consents are turned off, which is good, but the 'legitimate interest' buttons are all on and ...

Re: Bonkers 'pre owned' pricing?

As an international customer to UK model railway shops I use Hatton's a lot compared to other shops due to shipping and trunk issues. I'm in exactly the same position being based in Germany. Hattons have been excellent in dealing with the Brexit issue and the 'Trunk' function is invaluable in holdi...

Re: Freight question

Whilst Speedlink had already died a death by the period you are looking at, a good deal of mixed freight was still being hauled by Railfreight Distribution as Richard 08 already mentioned. They had a mainly 47 fleet, although some 37's, 90's and other bits and bobs. RfD was responsible for all the f...

Re: EFE Class 58

Been a while since I started this thread but I finally got my hands on my EWS 'Bone' which I ordered from Rails back in January! It had been sitting at my daughter's place in the UK waiting for someone to bring it out to me in DE and that was finally achieved earlier this week. Very nice model, well...

Re: New Class 59

Thanks for the pics! That was a fast delivery from DE. Sorry to hear about the medical issue. Good to know you are back on your feet. I quite like the mix of liveries anyway.Bit more realistic in a way. In my (real life) experience with wagon operation, rakes were often mixed up around the time of n...

Re: New Class 59

Actually, I stuffed up slightly by not reading the descriptions properly, so ordered four end wagons and two centre ones. I can't complain at that price though, and will look at whether I can convert two of the end wagons to centre versions (remove buffers and fill holes, maybe), or otherwise I'll ...

Re: New Class 59

Thanks for the heads-up. I just went and had a look, and put six of the Dapol Yeoman hoppers in at 20 Euros each, less VAT for me: two end wagons and two each of the remaining centre wagons (I'm not too concerned about having the same numbers twice, that can be hidden with a little weathering). Eve...
