trains keep stopping on layout

Afternoon, Ok so i have installed Elink and got a large oval for my son to test with but the train seems to keep stopping at different places around the layout. I bought a 4 amp PSU for the Elink to ensure power gets around the layout etc. Is this an issue with DCC or is it that the track may be dir...

Railmaster / Elink not communicating on Windows 10

good afternoon all, Ok so i have just installed railmaster onto my sons laptop by following the standard setup on the DVD etc. Then i opened railmaster and registered and updated the software etc. I plugged in the Elink and it said 'CDC RS232 emulation' as it said in the manual so everything looked ...

Re: Rotary switch for fiddle yard panel

brill i think the 6-way 2 pole (1 for point setting via the CDU and 2nd for LED route connection) is best way. What about diodes though where would they be wired in between? and are there different types? I will be using standard soleniod point motors (mainly hornby ones) ?? if i use a double pole t...

Re: Point motors - two from one switch?

Hi The first motor (Solenoid) nearest the switch is "Grabbing all the power" before it can reach motor 2. Wire both motors back to the switch trying to keep all the wires to roughly the same length. Dont wire motor to motor. But also... Ideally use a CDU (Capacitor Discharge Unit) in the ...

Rotary switch for fiddle yard panel

Afternoon all, Ok so i am about to embark on fiddle yard and the layout will be DCC but my son wants to control small part of layout himself so i am looking at 2 options (i have previously tried the miniature push-to-make panel) and they are Stud & Probe and Rotary switch. I think Rotary switch ...

Re: Feedback on my layout please?

so my son will be sat in the left hand side area (where the image of operator is). I will add a trailing crossover so he can then come out of upper sidings. It is passenger operated as he likes that for some reason. I have no idea where i am going to put a programming track as i thought they were ju...

Feedback on my layout please?

All, So i have designed a layout based on the boards i have installed and i think i have come up with hopefully a fairly decent layout for my son. As you can see the fiddle yards / turntable (He wants a turntable!) are on left hand end where he will sit. This will be DCC BUT i may have signal levers...

R612 or R8072

Afternoon all,

So i have researched R612 Hornby points & R8072 and unless i am missing something they are exactly the same?

I am building a loft layout and need to make a decision whether to purchase R612/3 or R8072/3.

I am going to use DCC

I expect this is a very simple answer.

Re: Anyrail connection query

hi thanks for quick response, see attached without the ink. I tried to use an X918 as that was smallest part.

Surely if i just used standard straights such as R600 or R601's then this should connect up to points surely? Naive i know

Anyrail connection query

Afternoon all. So see pic attached i am using Anyrail v6 to create my layout plan but when i try and connect points (hornby standard ) then it seems i am getting gaps. I am sure in the past that basically the point is a straight with a 1/16th curve (R604 i think) but when i try and connect there see...

Re: E-Link / DCC questions for beginner

Thank you. So E-link it is BUT all the E-links i can see for sale only come with 1 amp power supply.

I may be very naive here but where do i find a 4amp PSU for the e-link??

Do people have any links for ones that will work please?

Thanks in advance and stay safe everyone.

help for loft layout

Afternoon all, Ok i have decided that i will be using E-Link & Railmaster as a lot less wires etc. for such a large potential layout. What i need is ideas for how i can best lay this out? The attached Anyrail file is the area that i have and i dont want it to be too complicated as will require a...

E-Link / DCC questions for beginner

Afternoon all, So i have previously built analogue layouts but that involved a LOT of wiring for points, signals (with isolating track to stop the loco's) and my son wants to extend into the loft which means further wiring runs etc. so i have noticed 'E-link' / Railmaster and that seems to reduce wi...
