Winter is coming early.

The new 009 layout progresses. Seems a little odd, modelling snow in July sunshine. Gin and Tonics keep holding up progress ;) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48289210407_dca88945be_b.jpg untitled (1 of 1)-6 by Brian Tompkins , on Flickr The idea is lots of nothing, a gravel works one end and a ...

Re: 009 Electro Frog

Strange.....I didn't write this.;) On DC you mightn't get the sparks but a 1amp thermal breaker at ~1.2 amps will hold on long enough to get the tip of the blade exceedingly hot, certainly hot enough to burn fingers and start softening plastic. Electromagnetic ones are in my experience too likely to...

Re: 009 Electro Frog

Stange, just spoken to Peo who assure me I haven't been sold "old stock'. Peo small radius Streamline points are not provided with the already connected frog wire. I didn't ask re other radii Streamline, maybe they are. Yes it is DC. Re the insulating joiners I don't plan using them, the idea i...

009 Electro Frog

Just finished wiring the 00 gauge layout, Cobalt motors/switches/ Peo Bullhead Unifrog . But starting on the 009 seem to be a bit lost. Years ago I used 00 Electro Frog but these new 009 versions seem a bit different. Please note, these are Streamline Electro Frog not Set Track. The old ones needed ...

Temptations

Still playing with fire. Let me explain. I am kicking off my 57 year old son into taking up MR. I made this little diorama to show him what could be achieved with little skill and in very short time. Then this morning I looked at it and decided to play. DISASTER!!!!! My next project was an 0 gauge.....

A taster

As reported elsewhere I have bought the makings of a small 009 layout for my son....he is 57. But in the meantime I built this little diorama as an an incentive, https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48023463867_c89a56c2a1_b.jpg untitled (3 of 4)-Edit by Brian Tompkins , on Flickr This little scene ha...

Like Father like Son

My MR background.....Built a 00 gauge layout some fifteen years ago, well recorded on this forum. Gave up about ten years ago mainly because I lost my wife, remarried five years ago , at 75, this year mainly at my new wife's insistence took up the hobby again. I have a son who lives a long way away,...

Re: Decisions made

Mountain that might be the answer but way beyond my modelling skill.
