Re: stay Alive query

Hi Peterm, and Suzie.

I don't think i'm up to butchering the innards of something that small, but thanks.

That's a very good tip about the Zimo decoder, Suzie, I havn't seen that mentioned anywhere.

Re: stay Alive query

I received an answer from Olivias Trains, about the Stay Alive. In the case of very small loco's, they fit a barrier wagon, which I thought they would. Some of my sidings are a little short, and the wagon would take up too much space. So I have ordered a Heljan 05, with Stay Alive. I also considered...

Re: stay Alive query

Hi Bigmet. It's good to know it works that well. I am concerned that there may not be enough weight. My 08 which is still waiting spares, weighs in at 8oz, and does not need Stay alive, compared to my Ajax 3oz, which I feel does. The points are all electrofrog, and I keep track as clean as I can, bu...

Re: stay Alive query

Hi Flashbang.

Yes, that would solve the problem. I may have to think again, if it needs a separate wagon attached. I have read a good review of the Heljan 07, another posibillity.

Re: stay Alive query

It is on Olivias Trains website. If you select the bachmann 03, and check the DCC fitting, Say alive says it's a power car. I have an 060 Ajax with Stay Alive fitted in the loco. I think it's something that is needed for these very light loco's.

stay Alive query

I am thinking of buying a Bachmann 03 from Olivias Trains. On their website it says that you can have a Stay Alive power car. I thought the say alive was fitted internally, but this sounds like something separate.

Does anyone have any ideas please.

Re: 08 Shunter repair

Hi RAF96.

In my case, it's the con rods that have come off. The parts were coming from China, early 2021, according to Hornby. Obviously waiting for another shipment.

Re: 08 Shunter repair

I e-mailed Hornby a few days ago, to find out when my 08 shunter will return. Sadly their reply was that they were still waiting for spares. I think this is getting totally beyond belief now, it has been out of action for almost a year. I am looking at DCC locos on e-Bay, but don't really trust them...

Re: 08 Shunter repair

Hi Monday.

That is very good service. I wish mine would suddenly appear, but still no news, so they have not cleared all the backlog.

Re: Poss silly question

Thanks Bigmet, and Bufferstop.

I hoped it would be something simple, a corrugated shelter and a pile of coal. Nothing too complicated, I already have a raised platform,

Poss silly question

I have a Barclay 0-6-0 loco. There doesn't seem much room for coal in what I assume to be the bunker.
Can anyone please tell me how coal was loaded onto the loco, and did they use a coal stage, or just buckets from a heap.
Thanks for any replies.

Re: Prodigy faulty again

Hi Flashbang. This is proving to be more difficult than it should. I have read page 18 and 44. I named the loco, and followed the instructions. The loco worked, so I turned off the railway. When I turned it on again, the controller still read 003. pressing esc, does not show the previous name, or an...

Re: Prodigy faulty again

My new Hornby Elite arrived Saturday, so I have had a little play with it. Two things I don't like, the screen is not backlit. The other is that I have to set the loco address, every time I switch the railway on. Both the Prodigy and EZ Command could remember the address. Not a disaster, but just an...
