Hi Paul-H.
Thanks, but done that. I reached a point where I trust nothing.

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Paul-H. This morning, I have checked all soldered connections, and had a good poke about. I obviously disturbed the wiring behind the switch, which showed several strands of wire had escaped the solder, causing a short. This has nothing to do with the four faulty controllers, each one had an inte...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang. Sorry but the switch is ok. The main track is fed directly from the green connector. The DPDT switch just connects the program track to the main track in normal mode. In program mode that connection is broken, and the program track is connected to the PA2 program output. The PA2 is def...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang, and Roger (RJ). The program track is connected to centre pins of the switch. The main track to one pair of outer pins. The program control output to the other pair of outer pins. My ohm meter does not show any connection between the two tracks, unless the switch is in the main track mo...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang. On all three Prodigy, there has been 13 volts on the program track. The loco does move as well. I did connect the main track to the program output, on the first faulty unit I had, and it ran very well. Program track is a siding connected to a DPDT switch and is isolated from the main t...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang. Thanks for your help, but it's different this morning. Third time out of the box, and this morning we have 13 volts on the program track, and the loco moves. Shorting the track results in the usual flashing display, which clears with the short removed. There are no volts on the main tr...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang. Thanks for your reply. Having worked as a TV engineer, and later as a Broadcast Engineer, connecting up a railway is not that difficult, following a few rules. I have tried the Bachmann Ez, and it is still faulty. I may at some point send it back for repair, which would give me a spare...

Re: Prodigy faulty again
I had a disappointing reply from Gaugemaster.
It tells me the contract is between me, and Great Eastern, and they will resolve the issue.
This is not what I expect. I have sent a copy of the e-mail to Great Eastern, but not had a reply yet. As they do not have any stock, what am I supposed to do???

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Hi Flashbang.
That's good to know.
Green plug is pushed in, but didn't notice the data LED. It's in the box now, and I will contact them Jan 4th. After the holls. There was certainly no user tampering.
Happy New Year to you.

Re: Prodigy faulty again
Thanks for your reply Flashbang. Ten years is reassuring, there is hope for the future! Test meter on AC volts, but this morning, there are no volts on any output with the track cable disconnected. The control display is working as normal. It shows speed, direction and loco address. I think this is ...

Prodigy faulty again
Just switched my Prodigy on this morning, and it's not working. There is no volts on the main track output, but we have 13 volts on the programming track. Are Gaugemaster products really this unreliable?? This unit is less than four months old. How long should it's life expectancy be please? MOD not...

Re: Uncoupling
Hi Jim.
I have now fitted five uncouplers so far.
I've used 1oz fishing line weights, instead of springs. They do work, except when you find the drop down part of the hook on the front of a loco, is shorter than the rear. A small piece of plasticard solved the problem.

Re: New layout
Hi Pete12345.
You will be pleased to know, all mains sockets and PSU's are now on the base, at the back. Cables run through conduit, and only the power switch is on the baseboard front.
I had to get to the baseboard underside where the sockets were, so it became a priority.

Re: New layout
Hi Pete12345.
I know what you mean, and that is now a possibility.
Some time ago, I was going to put all the sockets and PSU in a box, and connect via a multi-way cable to the baseboard. I shall put that on the endless list of things to do!
