Re: Hello from West Wales.
Visited Wales back in 1975. Thought it was one of the most attractive places in the world, what with the meadows and valleys and streams. I suppose the Romans felt much the same way. :) Recall riding on some heritage narrow gauge steam line. That put me over the top. Just as I was ramping up for a U...

Almost never see these point-to-point affairs in North America. Fascinating.

Re: First 00 Layout - Any Suggestions Welcome
... board having to fold up when Mother In Law comes to stay - Hi Nev, and thank you for the great idea of mounting a layout above a bed. My guest room (9'x10', maybe) is fully occupied by a queen-size bed - but I have/will have overnight guests here. I had not thought of making the guest room the ...

Wow, in North America, such compact designs are but rarely examined. Great stuff.

Re: Simplification For Durability.
I’m with you, Sparkhill. Separately fitted wind screen wipers and sprung buffers are much less interesting to me than if it works after two hours. Got a couple of expensively imported pieces with shattered and split gears collecting dust on the shelf. I really should just pitch them in the dust bin ...

Less is more. JMO.
Make it look nice and consider bundling it off for display at train shows, whenever they come to the fore, again. Try shooting some video. These smart phones are better than most expensive cameras. Edit the video and add some interesting background music or sound effects.

Re: Yet another struggling for inspiration thread!
Well, I've oft remarked that I stand in amazement how my British Cousins do twice as much in half the space as my American brethren. Sounds like you got plenty (5 m) of length, and enough width (2.5) to get into trouble with. Modelers are recreating something nostalgic. Do trams or branch lines hold...

Delighted to hear of this. I have long wondered if there was a market for more early steam. I could not be happier with the Hornby Rocket set, and will be standing in line for this one.

Re: My layout..Progress at last
Your layout is charming. I have long admired my British Cousins for doing twice as much in half the space as my North American brethren. This may not apply to you, but for myself I have long since discovered that the number of problems to tweak rises exponentially with each additional square foot. F...
