Garden rail reverse loop with no power

Hi, i am aiming to install a battery RC Garden rail reverse loop set up with no rail power. I have heard you can force the train through the points & not need any electric for the points. Has anyone seen any info/vids on how you do this. I have heard you can fit a very light spring to one side j...

Re: Can i dim an led this way

Hi, i appreciate all the suggestions, but wont work for far to many reasons in my situation. Is all i was asking, is will what i am suggesting with a photocell & an extra resistor work as per diagram. 1. Cant put any pot or similar because i have other items running off the 5v 2. I am very limit...

Re: Can i dim an led this way

I used to control my station and street lighting from the controlled output (speed knob) of an old HM2000 controller. Twiddle the knob and dim the lights. OK, i should of explained i little better. There will be around 20 of these around the garden layout being fed from at least 4 different power s...

Re: Can i dim an led this way

Why not just increase the value of the resistors in the plan rather than trying to add an/other(s)? This would do any with the need for the photocell, unless that's in the circuit for another specific reason. Thanks End2end Because i wont be able to see the led's in the day light as a few are 25met...

Can i dim an led this way

Hi, i am building some signals with a red & green led via a relay & with the test looks fine in the day, but way to bright at night. Now i am very limited with space "IE: a 10mm tube" So i thought a photocell & an extra resistor. Would this work ?? & should the relays be of...

Re: Is a CDU constant

If you intend your wifi relay boards to be supplied by a CDU's output, then they will not work, the CDU only outputs a brief pulse of current on command. Worse yet the wifi relay boards may sustain damage, run them off a constant supply at the rated voltage. Many thanks, that saves a mistake.

Is a CDU constant

Hi, i am running a cable under my tracks for the point motors @ 20 volts DC via a CDU. i also have some wi-fi relay boards that work from 7-32v dc. Is it ok to run these relay boards off the same CDU supply. ??? Or has a CDU got some quirk that my relay boards may not like. Thanks

Linking secondary ground wires from 3 dc/dc convertors

Hi, i have a 6amp 20v power supply that also runs a 20v to 12v convertor & a 20v to 5v convertor, so 3 voltages on the lay out from 1 power supply. Now i have some 5v IR sensors that i wanted to use to switch a 12v relay panel using a low signal. So i connected everything up & the 5v IR,s wo...

Re: Best carcase materials for switch/mimic panels.

Thanks for the reply. I have ordered a box from amazon that might save me some work. The unit i have at the moment is in a hand made box & mounted on a TV wall bracket. So i have splashed out £19 for this box & will see what i can do with it. its 400x300x140mm. I have a few relays to mount i...

Best carcase materials for switch/mimic panels.

Have you found good materials for a carcase/faceplate for switch/mimic panels. I found steel if not to thin very good. Aluminium i found terrible to work with. Perspex is a no, no. ply can splinter easily on the surface. I have read that Polycarbonate is very forgiving & nice to use. Have any of...

Re: Points Position Indicator help please

The number of points being operated simultaneously really doesn't matter as the CDU is taking care of that load. If you want to add protection consider a thermal self resetting circuit breaking wired into the main supply (orange wire in your drawing) from the power supply unit and before it goes to...

Re: Points Position Indicator help please

Hi, just another question? I have adapted the gaugmaster drawing for my use & feel there should be some sort of overload protection in the circuit on the 18v & the 12v side. Any suggestions. A max of two points would be switched at any one time. Thanks https://i.postimg.cc/T1vB78Gt/points-re...
