Re: Layout in progress - Name undecided

I've been a bit sidetracked getting my bikes serviced and MOT'd ready for the summer, (so you can all blame me for the recent high winds and heavy rain), so I've not had much time for the railway. But yesterday I had a spare hour so popped out to have another mock up of things, I've got the pieces o...

Re: Hattons FAIL

Is not the problem that Hornby have failed to supply Hatton's with the quantity they pre-ordered? In which case what can Hatton's do except cancel the excess that they now cannot fulfil. I may be wrong but I'm sure I've read previously that it's not a case of shop ordering an amount, they are alloc...

Re: 3d printers and printing

Only had it a few days, printed about 9 items then forgot to remove one before starting the next print! Been there, done that, thankfully on my FDM Ender 3. Build plate was all the way back, I wasn't taking much notice and just set the next file to print, and walked off. Came back and wondered what...

Re: A Question of scale...

Those really, really, really look amazing! Sorry for the very slow reply, been at work a lot this last month! If you could work them into your layout, let me know and I can print the bits out for you and drop them in the post when I get a moment. Bigmet - Yes, they are good and well detailed, espec...

Re: A Question of scale...

The revised size seems a better fit, I can still adjust exactly where the canal will run. Also now printed out the file for the support either end:

Re: A Question of scale...

Thanks all. A little background of my thinking for the scene might help with what I'm trying to achieve. Anyway, the scene is supposed to be a canal wharf type of area, a large flat space with sheds and factories around it, cranes along the edge of the cobblestone area, and some old archways set int...

Re: A Question of scale...

Bigmet - I should've said, the bridge is made of 4 separate pieces, the arches, railings, gravel boards and gangway. So I can alter the size of the arches, and leave the handrails full size, or shorten to fit etc. Altering spacing is the 3rd option, which to be honest I didn't think of until making ...

A Question of scale...

Firstly I'll state I'm working in OO gauge, as I always forget to put that! So, I'm trying to 3D print some bridges for my layout, I've found the files for a nice looking cast iron arched bridge, and have printed 1 in the original file size, which fits where I want it just right. I then need another...

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

Flashbang - TBH I'd rather not have the hassle of printing myself and having to wait for them all to dry before touching etc. I have found a printer behind the sofa, but by the time I add up the costs of decent paper and new ink cartridges, plus the hours spent printing it all, I'd rather just send ...

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

I bought the kits I wanted today, came to around £30 for the 7 kits, and 2 lots of brick paper and cobblestones. I contacted a local company, to get 2 copies of each kit, and around 10 sheets of each brick/cobblestone pack, it comes to around 240 pages, which they quoted £40 for.

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

Bufferstop - Haha, I've made the mistake of printing things for home at work, collecting it from the printer thinking it was all there, only to get home and realise it must've run out of paper, so the next person to go and put paper in got the rest of my stuff too... BrightonMan - Thanks, they all l...

Re: Layout in progress - Name undecided

Today was the first day since Christmas that I've actually got anything done in the shed. I've felt guilty about going out there and leaving my wife with the kids, as she's had them everyday for the last 2 months, I've at least had a break from the monotony when I go to work. But today the kids have...

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

Thanks for the replies. I have previously printed kits at work, on the laser printer and they came out nicely, on good quality paper. But we've since been given a new computer, so I'd have to set up the printer, and I don't really want to send it to the wrong printer and have some manager getting se...
