Re: Layout in progress - Name undecided

Well I didn't realise it had been quite this long since I did an update to this. The 3D printing hobby that was started as a way of creating my own scenery for far less than retail, and scaling it to exactly what I wanted, really took over as my main hobby. So, the live steam has gone, it was good, ...

Was that from their website? I could do with a new power lead too, had to glue the plug back together on mine after the tags broke

Re: Hattons closing down

Everything 'must go!' by 4 Feb according to latest email from Hattons. Sounds like that the final day of operation so if you have your eye on anything, better be quick. I saw that announcement on Facebook, but there's not a lot left now, not in OO gauge anyway, seemed to mostly be pre-owned stock, ...

...Or you could buy a large online retailer in the US with it, which I don't think has been mentioned on here yet Since the purchase in November last year I have been wondering why, and now: I am increasingly of the opinion that the purchase of MB Klein is a move to a location where the immediate f...

2024 Range

Has anyone else had a look at the 2024 range? There's a few bits I'm interested in. The P2 with smoke and sound looks good, and the B1 Mayflower. I do like the early railways releases they are doing too. This years S&DR Locomotion will definitely be on my buying list, and good to see they are se...

Hattons closing down

I've just seen an announcement on their Facebook page that Hattons will be winding down business and closing in the near future, though no date has been decided. Announcement can be found here: https://www.hattons.co.uk/closure?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=closingdownan...

Re: What did Santa bring you?

And how does your Lion go? Roars along by any chance? Haha, not quite, more of a gentle purr, only used on the rolling road, its quiet and smooth, but low speed control isn't great. Sadly Hornby have used the same moulded chain couplings, the same as on the Stephensons rocket, which are fiddly. But...

Re: Bachmann V1

I got one of these for Christmas, only run it in on the rolling road so far, but its lovely, smooth and quiet. I'll have to order a decoder for it next month, but which time the track should be back in action and I can give it a proper test.

What did Santa bring you?

So what railway related things did everyone get for Christmas this year?
For me, it was another couple of locos, which have been the kick in the behind I needed to get back out to the shed and do some more work to the railway.

Re: Anyone currently buying?

Hattons had a very good offer on the Rapido 'Lion', but I missed it, then remembered seeing a comment on Facebook, someone commenting on the hattons advert wondering if the offer was in reply to Hornby's half price 'Lion'. On to the Hornby website and Lion was purchased, on a little more than the Ra...

Not necessarily for the buildings you want at the moment, but these are 3 of the best free designers I've found for railway wagons and railway related scenery:

Re: Source for 3D printer files?

I find it can be a pain finding things, and often get best results just searching for the general item. So I'd just search cottage or house rather than a certain scale or type. It can take a long time to get through all the results but it's the only way I've found that works. I've got cottages, tin ...

Re: Source for 3D printer files?

The 2 main websites I use are Thingiverse, and Printables. But I've not found any specific model railway sites. There are also Cults3D, Makerworld, Yeggi (which I think is a search engine, which searches all the previously mentioned websites). There are others but I can't remember them at the moment...

Re: 2021 Range

Rails of Sheffield re appointed official Hornby supplier. Must have been Kohler who blocked them for discounting products below RRP! Now he's gone, the obstacle has been removed. Just a presumption on my part though. I thought it was because rails were commissioning locos and so Hornby classed them...

Re: Has the torrent of new RTR OO suppliers halted?

We are nearing the end of Q3 2023, and Ellis-Clark with the Quad-Arts are likely to be it as newcomers to RTR OO by end 2023. Perhaps there will be another new RTR OO brand putting in an appearance before end 2025, on the back of the Stockton and Darlington bicentenary? I'd forgotten about them! I ...
