Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)
Crick Road Update: Nothing to report. IC&L Update: Details are finished and I have declared the project officially complete. The only recent acquisition was Walthers EMD F40 number 6404 (VIA Rail). Here are a few shots before the project is left to gather dust while I am in the UK. http://image...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)
I will be returning to the UK later in the year, York to be precise! Off to Uni? Anyhow- sure you'll be in the National Railway Museum often! Also, there is probably some more photographic interest and opportunities in that locale especially with the ECML than Cambridge? (Though you did get some go...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)
The caboose is one of my favourites too! They were phased out in Canada about 1990 so I missed them (having said that, I have seen two on special trains this year). The name Cabot is loosely based on the explorer but I picked it because it can be pronounced in either French or English. I will post a...

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)
Crick Road Update: Good derailment yesterday, three cement tanks off at a curved point.
IC&L Update: Barring a few tiny details, the layout is now complete. The roof is resting on top of the factory. Photos will eventually follow.

Re: 47806's Two Layouts (Crick Road and the IC&L)
Crick Road Update : Nothing to report. IC&L Update : It has been quite a while since the last update! The layout is nearly complete with signs in place and the low-lying marsh land is now finished. The only thing not yet done is to finish the factory roof, which keeps warping. I will have to so...

Re: 47804 & 57601 visit Dundee
Thanks for posting! The shots look good to me, certainly much better than my first photos! I like how you have photographed more than just the locos, you have picked out interesting details that most people (even trainspotters) would ignore.

Re: A few 2010 railtour photos
I like the photos, bright and colourful. Is the shot of 70013 (or whatever it is) taken from here:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=53.956 ... h&hl=en-GB
It looks like a good location. Is is accessible?

I like the black and white version. It works really well.

Re: Cleaning stuff with surgical spirit
I use IPA quite often. Not easy to get in the UK, Boots in Cambridge no longer stock it due to the drinking issue. In North America it is still very easy to find. I also use contact cleaner designed for electronics. My guess is that somewhere like Currys might stock it.

Re: Review: Rapido Trains CP Angus Shops Wide Vision Caboose
I was not aware of ExactRail, but having looked at their website I see what you mean. They seem to have a similar level of detail to the current Athearn R-T-R stock. Sorry that you missed out on the caboose of your choice. Pre-ordering has the problem of not being able to see a model beforehand. Rap...

Review: Rapido Trains CP Angus Shops Wide Vision Caboose
A high level of detail – without any effort Rapido Trains CP “Angus” Wide-Vision Caboose (Algoma Central) http://images.fotopic.net/1227py.jpg Review by Thomas Blampied Since my return to North American HO scale last year, I have come to expect that the level of detail (especially ladders and grab i...

Crick Road Update:
Nothing to report.
IC&L Update:
A new addition to the fleet is a Rapido Trains caboose in Algoma Central livery. I will be posting a review shortly. It really is an excellent model:

Re: My Saturday
A wonderful thought, but I was talking on the weekend to the man who has looked after her for decades and, while the exterior is OK, she has sat outdoors for about 35 years and it is likely that she will never be able to steam again. Steam in Canada does not have the same following as in the UK, the...
