Re: Diesels at Crown Point and Sovereign St.

If you hadn't said it was afternoon, it would be what my mother would call a misty-moisty morning.

Re: Planning: Lessons Ive learnt

The solution. Go open frame layout structure. Saves a fortune on plywood track base, which is only a little wider than the tracks it carries, and if a track base support happens to foul a point motor location, you just shift it an inch or two. Particular strength, the layout can subsequently be sig...

Re: Market Street (formerly CandO)

If its 2 continuous loops. do you really need a fiddle yard? I have 2 loops, and have various sidings and branchlines that may never have power attached, but have static locos and wagons all looking like they are doing stuff. I don't like to overcomplicate it all.

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!

No wonder they are bailing out. Iceberg and fire. Suspect it was an insurance job.

Better to start early before the heat gets up.
HoHo. That might be true in Perth atm, but Oxenholme? More likely trying to beat the rain.

Re: The EWR.

After all the mayhem running passenger trains to sort out those tin Hornby Dublo coaches, I'm running goods trains only for a while. Its quarter to seven on a Wednesday morning. How do I know? Well Wednesday is dustbin day in Oxenholme, and the clock on the ticket office says quarter to seven. OK, i...

I can't imagine this being of much interest to readers in the Northern Hemisphere, but for antipodeans, Maylands Model Railways in Perth Western Australia deserves an honourable mention. Snow on Shap Fell! https://i.postimg.cc/Vvy52Qd0/snow.jpg Most unexpected, and not on the weather forecast. The little Ivatt is on his way through Tebay junction on its way north to Penrith with some cows that may now get cold on the way. Its passing another local from Shap that will take some road ...

https://i84.servimg.com/u/f84/19/47/34/52/img_5226.jpg The plot thickens. I'm moving the conversation re my Hornby Dublo coaches away from the "Anyone currently buying thread. So the little HD coaches, those that have plastic wheels, are great runners. While they are moving they are not notice...

Re: Anyone currently buying?

Is there any possibility of stripping the H-D metal wheels off the axles and putting plastic wheels on as replacements? I simply don't know. It would be a good idea. When I took the steel wheels out and found the plastic ones didn't fit, I replaced the steel ones with great difficulty. I'm not curr...

Re: Anyone currently buying?

https://i84.servimg.com/u/f84/19/47/34/52/img_5226.jpg All is not lost. 4 of the carriages came with plastic wheels. 2 of them are restaurant cars. The Gourmet Express passes the Scout Green signal box. Pulled by new (reliable!) #37 diesel loco. Now I have to sort out the alien HD couplings so that...

Re: Anyone currently buying?

'No roll' may well be the yet bigger problem. I have a selected few types of H-D wagons on my layout, and it was possible to carve them about to install brass pinpoint bearings with MGW pinpoint wheelsets, which makes them nicely free rolling on these old steel tyred wheels. But I have never tackle...
