Re: Waddon South (formerly Wandle Park)

Hi all, it's been a while. I've been slowly pottering on with the layout and the end of the build is defiantly in sight. The extension has been added and all the track is now in place. The cottages have been built and I've been amusing myself detailing the gardens, including adding an overgrown air-...

Re: Card kits - which to choose?

Prototype Models do a card kit of an SR single track loco shed, based on Sidmouth. Antics-on-line stock them.

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

That cottage looks great. It has a British feel to it even though I assume it's based on a European style.

Re: My layout..Progress at last

Looks like a great start. You'll be asking permission for an extension before you know it :D

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

The kits I'm interested in are the low relief arches, canal bridge, factory warehouse, low relief factory, retaining wall, and arched retaining walls. I have some of the kits you mention, and this pic shows how they look on the layout. You can see the factory/warehouse, low-relief factory and retai...

Re: Scalescenes Kits...

Most of the buildings on my layout are Scalescenes. I love them because they are extremely versatile and great for kit-bashing. Plus once you have bought and downloaded the file you can print it as many times as you like. I have an old Brother inkjet printer which is fine for printing the kits out. ...

Re: Waddon South (formerly Wandle Park)

Thanks Daniel & Tony. I think that you would know/remember the area. I used to know it really well, but I doubt I would recognise a lot of it now as it has seen massive changes over the years. My family all came from the general area (Mitcham, Croydon, Wallington etc) and if Croydon Airport had ...

Re: Wandle Park

thank you, for this diary of development. Hi Chris. I'm glad you found this thread useful. I defiantly have more dedication than skill! To be honest, an lot of things I've done on the layout I've picked up from other people along the way, and without some top tips and help from NRM members I doubt ...

Re: Waddon South (formerly Wandle Park)

I've now finally finished laying all the 3rd rail, with the completion of Platform 2 and the carriage/EMU siding. imageedit_5_8724417938.jpg imageedit_7_7008190024.jpg I've also installed some signals. These are Ratio kits and I have to say that they are probably the most fiddly kits I've ever built...

Re: The spiralling cost of EMU's

As a customer, you have to make your own value assessment. I am increasingly motivated to wait a year or so for any reductions; or another year or two, for the s/h to appear after the novelty has worn off. This applies to all the manufacturers. I tend to agree. If retailers find they are not shifti...

The spiralling cost of EMU's

Can anyone explain to me why the price of Bachmann EMU's has gone through the roof recently? Less than a year ago I bought a new 2EPB from TMC for £130. This included their value weathering so the actual price was £110. Now that I want to add another one to the fleet I find that the price has increa...

Re: Portsdale

Looking great, I love the mix of building styles. A bit of advice for laying the 3rd rail on those tight curves, bend it slightly before you lay it. I know from experience that trying to get it to stay in position on anything less than 3rd radius curves without doing so can be a right pain!
