Re: Narrow gauge.

I just realised, I don't know why I'm obsessing over this because I figure that actually, standard Z gauge track and a wagon would be sufficient surely. Not bothered what type of narrrow gauge I want, just that it's smaller than the main layout!

Narrow gauge.

Hey guys,

Just a quick one, but if using OO stock on N gauge track is OO9 gauge, what is using N gauge stock on Z gauge called? I'm looking at adding some mine track to my N gauge layout and as such need to know what gauge to look for! Thanks

Doesn't look too bad, corrected the colour to match as close to real life.

Re: Wishy Washy.

I did a search and they literally did not have black in Hobbycraft, decided to go to games workshop and get a Citadel wash becsuse they were on offer. Only needed a small bottle as it's a tiny layout. Planning a bigger one by the end of the year so I think I'll go for it then instead :)

Re: Wishy Washy.

Cheers. I've tried to go over with grey but alas, it's a lost cause. Ripped all the plaster off and started again. It's not a long job to do, just need to get more plaster and will start on it tomorrow. Poster paints it is.

Re: Wishy Washy.

Sounds good. I'm surprised because I've seen loads of people talk about acrylics at something like a 30:1 mixture, but then mine is looking shite! I'll try making a grey wash tomorrow and failing that, re-plaster and buy more Citadel for now! Do you think it's a different type perhaps? Been advised ...

Wishy Washy.

Hey guys. Ran in to an issue with washing rocks. I was using a Citadel 'nuln oil' which was great, dried slightly lighter and gave me a wonderful grey colour. But then I ran out, so I decided to use a black paint from 'Studio Acrylics', and to my horror it's dried dark grey and looks terrible! ....a...

I'll stick some pictures up at some point. Really need to make a blog to be honest.

Re: Plaster rocks.

Update. Used PoP from Hobbycraft, it's great. Put a couple of layers on, cracks easily but because of the layers I have it works amazingly well! I'm able to create undercuts down to the previous later and it looks pretty realistic. Ultimately I need another layer but I cannot be bothered truth be to...

Re: A different way to use dropper wires?

The reason I'd like to do it without a bus is that I want to paint the wires grey and utilise them within the scenery, like those wires you get connecting one third rail to another etc :)

Re: A different way to use dropper wires?

Oooh ok that does make a bit more sense. But I could get the same effect just from wires connecting the rail sections, and not going underneath connecting to a bus right? I just need to improve conductivity without wiring a whole thing. So, wires from controller to track, feeder wires between secti...

Re: A different way to use dropper wires?

So I don't need a bus wire? Not sure why people use them anyway? So just track connection, dropper wires, done? What do you mean by main ring? Cheers
