Re: Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

Thank you,

My inner sleeve was missing,
The eggshell was light mint green,
My fan does not turn, but unsure if these new 31's have woking fans (some definitely do, mine was £160, so it was not the cheap Railroad!)

Anyway, I sent it back for a refund as the light mint green offended me too much!

Re: Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

I have now received my new Hornby Class 31. Three questions if I may? Q1. Is the Class 31 'ice cube' packing meant to have the outer clear square tube sleeve over the inner packing like other Hornby packing so the inner ice cube packing fits the box snugly? Q2. The white banding looks very green to ...

Re: Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

R3661 now bought, so I'll just have to wait and see.
Looks like a very pretty loco and will look very nice on the railway :-)

Re: Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

Well in this case, I think it's as safe as any other Mazak based purchase.
I guess buying it from one of the huge box shifters will have the best chance of the latest production run.
I'll take my chance.
Thanks Guys.

Re: Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

Do you think they would readily admit there was ever a class 31 rot issue in the first place?

Is it safe to buy a Hornby class 31 now?

Hi,

I've had my eye on a Hornby R3661 for some time, but with the history of chassis rot, I've held back.
Shops now seem to have stock so would imply fresh stock is now on the shelfs.
Is it safe to buy one now, or are even these new models a problem?

Thanks.

Re: Heljan Class 14 today, the 2018 bach.

Hi Guys, Don't bother to reply to my question. I've just test run the model up and down my 3 foot test track, It's awful, so it's going back for a refund and I'll not buy another. Running backwards, it's actually quite good, running forwards thought is a different matter! it waggles all over the pla...

Heljan Class 14 today, the 2018 bach.

Hi Guys, I've had my new Heljan Class 14 today, this is the 2018 bach. Can anybody tell me if this bach is different from the previous batches in the way the body comes off and how the decoder is fitted. I've been told that the body was a real pig to get off and lots of parts can get broken. This do...

Re: Zimo MX600 CV8-8

The Zimo CV list is VERY hard to understand and REALLY should be rewritten in proper English so the UK market can fully understand it. This is why I wanted to double check here before I did something silly. As I understand it, Digitrains are the sole importer of Zimo, so maybe they could spend half ...

Zimo MX600 CV8-8

Hi Guys, I've done a bit of hunting and Googling, but can't find anything 'hard and fast'. If I set a Zimo MX600 CV8-8, this will do no harm to the decoder and will simply put the settings back to where they were when I took delivery of the decoder from new? I'm asking as I need to give one of my MX...

Re: LMS Pug 11234

I ordered two plates.
I was totally confused about numbers so went with 1342 !!
It's my railway and there seems to be no clear answer to what this loco would have had if it were real now.

Re: LMS Pug 11234

1396 seemed to exist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornwall_Minerals_Railway#/media/File:GWR_Cornwall_Minerals_Railway_1396.jpg So did the other numbers 1393-1399 ?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornwall_Minerals_Railway I'm confused. I guess it's going to have to be a case of 'It's my railway' :D

Re: LMS Pug 11234

I look with caution here, but reading through seems to say that an engine coming to the GWR from outside could/would have been given a number that was 'spare'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWR_locomotive_numbering_and_classification 1338-1343 seems to be the range I'm working with and 1338 and 1340...
