Re: Kavster's Loft Build

Hello all, Haven't posted in a while, but have been busy! I have finished laying down my track, after spending quite a bit of time getting it as good as I can. I may still make some mall changes, but it is basically finished. I have also added a small incline on the outermost loop, but due to the le...

Re: Kavster's Loft Build

It is a bit more challenging than I thought, so glad I’m in no rush haha! As a 'serial ripper upper' I wish you well  Haha! Thanks! I have changed things at least 3 to 4 times before even being happy with the first temporary tack down. I'm not quite finished with the first attempt, but h...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

If it helps, here is a picture of my baseboard legs with the adjusters fitted. I found them quite easy, and saved me having to bore a hole (and risk splitting the wood) to fit the type you posted. Nothign wrong with those, but for my woodwork skills, I went with these ones as they were easier and po...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Yeah I was gonna suggest something similar. I used these You can just screw them onto the side of the leg and are about the same price. Depends on preference I guess! And I’ve just joined all my baseboards up with a spirit level, clamps and bolts. Then reinforced with some screws for good measure. C...

Re: Kavster's Loft Build

Thank you! I have started to lay track at long last! Taking it slow and easy, and working to my plan. Started working out the corners and have managed to get them all in nothing below 24inch curves. One or two are 30inch curves too. Now, just marking out where the points are and where the rest of th...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Did you ever find a way to adjust the leg heights, and a way to secure the baseboards together?

Re: Kavster's Loft Build

Today I have got to the point where I think I can say I'm finished with 'converting' the loft and building the baseboards. I think I can actually start looking at laying track! :) Overall, I'm really happy with how this turned out, and have surprised myself haha! After all this work though, I still ...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

Sorry for the delayed reply...been a bit busy the last few days! I was actually thinking about your idea and think you're right about it probably being the best way to do it. I'll probably be able to get it to a height of around 2 inches for a reasonable distance, and can then make it a hill or rais...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

I really am in two minds about this. I can see the pros and cons to both ideas, and really am not sure about whether to go for the mainline being 4 inches above the branch line with a single incline/decline. If anyone has any last thoughts then speak now please haha! I’m gonna buy the rest of the ma...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

I think I may have come up with a way to do an incline/decline... Limitations are that it's only one incline/decline so locos will have to share it. But for me, that's not a problem. I havent changed everything on the plan, just added in the yellow section. But obviously I will disconnect all the ot...

Re: Kavster's Loft Build

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

No problems! Ah yeah, good shout! I shall change that up. I might even move them further away from the edge of the baseboard so I can create a road area like you mention also. And yeah, I'll probably end up 'dropping' them too, but was still considering them. (N.B. This thread has been a wonderful s...

Re: OO Shed Layout

Hello mate, I'm still pretty new to this, so take this with a pinch of salt! Also, note that I have just quickly drawn this up, and although it is to scale with the measurments you gave. It'll need some expanding. You'll need to add some more points in now doubt (the two running loops arn't even con...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

I'm completely envious about this thread as I've been banging my head against a wall for over a year now trying to get a track plan that I like. I even bought 2 books which have been useless and my thread has struggled to hit 3 pages where you seem to have had all the help and encouragement you nee...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

That does look effective! On a seperate note...I've been playing round with the design again today. I've put in 2nd and 3rd radius curves to convince myself even more that they would fit, and they do haha! I've also decided to change it up a smal bit, but I think it works... Let me know what y...
