Re: LED resistors
Follow up query...... which is more appropriate.... metal film or carbon film? Rapid have both listed on their website. Seems 100 would only cost £0.88! Would that be correct?

Re: LED resistors
Thanks for that guys. I am using Guagemaster WM1 as the PSU. It is rated at 1.25 amps. I may be approaching its limit with these extra 26 LEDs as it is also powering station platform lighting and goods yard standards. We shall see when I fire it all up. If necessary I will separate into different ci...

Re: LED resistors
Thanks all. 1K/ 0.25W it is. They are for turnout direction indicator lights on my control panel of which there will be 26 lit at any one time... all white.

Re: LED resistors
Not being very electrically minded I have found a calculator for LEDs online that tells me for a supply voyage of 12v, a voltage drop off 8.8v (12- 3.2) at a current of 30mA the resulting R is 180 ohms at 0.25 W. Does that sound right?

LED resistors
I am looking to acquire resistors for 3mm LEDs which are rated at 3.2v. I want to use a 12v DC supply to power them. What value of resistor will be required for each LED?
Many thanks
Many thanks

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
:? The only thing I would add is if any of your point switches move two or more solenoids at once - cross over pair of points etc and especially as you're using Seep PM1 solenoids then I would recommend increasing the return wire size. Use as a minimum 24/0.2mm or better would be 32/0.2mm or if its ...

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
Now that we have resolved E2E's installation issue is anyone prepared to comment on my earlier query about downgrading the common return wire from 32/0.2 to 16/0.2 if all motors are individually switched (I.e. unpaired)?

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
E2E... I have just finished fitting 26 PM1 motors. The process I used was to create a small template out of stiff card and formed a 8mm long slot through which the pin can pass. I marked the location of the two fixing screws onto it and formed small holes. I then laid this on top of the ballusted tu...

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
Sorry to be a pain.... I have decided to wire each point motor separately i.e. no pairing. In doing this am I ok to reduce the common return wire to 16/0.2 instead of 32/0.2?

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
That all sounds a bit of hammer and walnut! Think I'll stick with motors powered through CDU with LEDs powered separately. Lots more wiring but possibly easier to fault-find if necessary. Would I be right in thinking that with separate PSUs and with the LEDs connected to tags D,E and F on the PM1 th...

Re: Point Motor Wiring layout
Now that I think I have the motor wiring worked out in my head I am turning my thoughts to how to best show on the control board which way the points are configured. I am assuming this is traditionally done by LEDs showing the "connected/ live" route. In order to keep matters as simple as ...
