Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

When I was building resin kits which are made from castings, I would be often filing parts to fit , especially when I made my own castings, and I save the tiny resin filings, as these mixed with runny superglue make perfect filler for repairing things which gives a sort of similar effect. I only use...

Slip coaches are interesting! Often thought DCC could be used to operate a slip. One would need heavy wheels such as Romfords and some nice bearings for free running. Would be interesting!

Re: Old Hornby Gresley 'Teaks'

The old ones run ever so well and they look good as well. Not had any modern ones, but the old ones are so nice and they can be found at such great prices secondhand, I would go for a long rake of the older ones and just buy some fancy new 12.5 (12.6)mm metal wheels if one wants to upgrade them.

Re: Wobbly wheels on split chasses - solutions?

Peters Spares sell replacement plastic axle inserts for soms Mainline/Replica/Bachmann split chassis. Am sure they do a J72. Hope that helps? Enables one to keep those lovely locos on the rails for years to come!

Re: GWR Cathedral Class - 8000 Gloucester Cathedral

Sort of reminds me of The Great Bear which was eventually abandoned through being too big to negotiate certain track formations not that they didn't try. I can't remember where it derailed, but it was said to be due to its size. (It wasn't that it was a 4-6-2. It was more that it was a very large 4-...

The official term used for the signs is "Limited clearance" signs. These are placed to warn railway workers or traincrew etc that in these locations, if a train came there is no room for them to get out of the way so extra care needs to be taken to ensure ones safety.

Re: BR Gauge Wagon

Don't forget platform clearances and heights, though there was a specific tool for doing this so it didn't have to be done with those who were checking other clearances. I remember being show this handheld tool in use, but it would not surprize me if sucha wagon would also check for this. Another as...

0 gauge in standard gauge form comes into its own outdoors. I have seen really nice scratchbuilt rolling stock and locos on Youtube built specifically for garden railway use.

Re: Joining Track...

I have heard of carborundum track cutting disk breaking/shattering when in use. Can anyone please recommend a supplier which sell one's that don't break/shatter? Cant think but what I do recommend is either using a slightly wider disc which is just under 1mm thick or what I once did with much thinn...

Now that the now looks like it might start to melt, I'm thinking of dropping my plans for a window-sill T-gauge station and maybe working outside.
Cheers, Chris
Impressive!
