Re: are toy fairs a good place to buy trains?

Toyfairs are actually good places to buy, as I know some of the sellers do test their locomotives before putting them up for sale, and they can be bargained with as well. I have bought and sold at the same fair that the gentleman arranges (Have not been to the Brecon one) a few times. It is a good w...

Re: Class 08

That really does look good!
Thank you for the offer, but I am ok. I like to be able to do things myself if possible. It gives a consistant look. Your excellent abilities may stand out next to mine on my layout.

Traction tyres will be the main culprit if the wheels are slipping because though they look ok, when rubber ages it hardens and looses its gripping qualities with the rails. If it is not slipping it could be the magnets in the motor because as magnets age they lose their magnetism and weaken. These ...

Re: Hornby Class 47 Blue Pulman traction tyre replacement

I don't have one but the older versions had four clips beneath (Or near) the drivers doors if I recall coreectly? I am going by memory. The Lima version one had to remove the buffers. Hornby dis take over Lima so it is possible, but I thought Hornby carried on their own earlier 47 into the Railroad ...

Re: Oh...NO...! Not another 1/32 diorama...!!!

Thank you, Ken. Oh, yes, it takes some work but rainy days know very well how to get you there. Anyway that drawing dates from at least two or moew years ago and it is just a hint to myself. I have learnt inmore than three decades ago that plans are to be discarded because they main task is to prov...

Re: Class 08

Wasp stripes are difficult to get right. The 08 does not have a flat surface in which to apply masking if brush or spray painting. Your method is more promising but as you hae mentioned... It still is not easy! I have a narrow gauge diesel I have yellow bufderbeams on and I am a bit nurvous to try! ...
