Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Surprizing what can be done in a small space. You have put a lot of thought into that idea! It looks good.

Re: 1950's Triang
Mind you. Triang has proven the test of time and were actually pretty well made. It depends what one is looking to do with ones locos and stock. Keep them origional or update them? My aim is to adapt and update as I see them as a great source of well made reliable mechanisms with hardy bodies that I...

Re: Track cutters
Method of cutting track to the exact length where two track pieces need to join but are coming from opposite directions (E.g. If one is making a passing loop when building the second track portion of the run round loop). Make sure track from both directions is temporarily pinned down so rails are se...

Re: Track cutters
My vote is for the minicraft or expo drill with a thin slitting disc. It will cut in tight locations without the need for getting in there with a file afterwards. I have the choice of Proxxon or a Dremel but both need adequate space to handle them properly. I tend to use the Proxxon on the bench, I...

Re: Track cutters
I have a pair of the versions when Xuron only did the one type. Very handy things. I also use my Minicraft drill with a carbodium cutting disc. What I use for what purposes.... If I want quick cuts where accuracy is less important I use the cutting shears, but if I want accurate precision cuts I use...

Re: Dummy Locos
My experience behind the class 50's is that they are very powerful but just like a diesel engine, if one ups the power output one emmits more exhaust, so the first thing one notices is that though they sound similar to a class 37 or something like that, the exhaust fumes that come off these locos ar...

Re: Dummy Locos
Locos with double identities are now a firmly established prototype the two class 50s in GBRf colours that work out of Kidderminster both carry the identities of two former class members each both name and number. Youngsters seeing them in the station race over the footbridges to see what it says o...

Re: Llwyndrissi Halt.
Two new additions ready to use as donor locos have come my way. A little Lifelike American saddle tank loco which is said to "Waddle" which is not surprizing when one sees the massive size of its motor! And a nice heavily engineered Triang dock shunter complete with its knurled wheels and ...

Re: Points Failure At Woking
Yes, I was being ambitions with the point blades (flat-bottom) perhaps. All was good on the bench, with everything nice and shiny, but real-world guff/paint/whatever tipped the balance. It's a real shame Peco don't make their points like they do the double-slip, without the micro switch 'box' - the...
