Re: Llwyndrissi Halt.
I thought I would share some interesting information. The first is in regards to working with tinplate. Take a look at this link:- https://youtu.be/4SSGohkErZc I have not soldered my tinplate items yet as I have carefully designed waggon bodies that rely on them being cut and folded in the right pla...

Re: THE UNIVERSAL WORKBENCH
Some of you who want to work with tinplate may want to take a look at this:- https://youtu.be/4SSGohkErZc I will also post it on my 7mm narrow gauge thread as it is inline with some of the things that I am doing. Also while I am here, I want to share a method that my Dad taught me as a child when he...

Re: Newbie Here, Got a Few Questions
You do not need feeders for every piece of track, but the basic idea is for all track to be "Live". It does not have to be, as one can simply plug in a DCC controller into a DC layout instead of the DC controller and switch all track sections on. Ok, the sidings will be dead if the points ...

Re: Two different motors in one loco!
I I can imagine that the twin motor A2 prototype would be able to outpull almost anything else as this was made like the old Hornby dublo products were except it had much finer made mechanisms.
Were the ones that made it to production loco or tender drive?

Re: Two different motors in one loco!
I almost bought a Trix prototype model locomotive of an A2 that had a motor drive in both the tender and on the loco. The reason for this was that as a prototype model (Which it was really well made) it had to be appraised and they needed to see both drive units at an ppraisal so when the model went...

Re: New to DCC
DCC ready are locos that do not have a DCC decoder, but they do have a DCC socket to make the conversion to DCC easier. DCC fitted are locos that have DCC decoders already in them. DCC sound are locos that have DCC sound decoders fitted to them. There are lots of DCC systems to choose. From Lenz to ...

Re: Startup
In regards to track, it all depends what you are planning to run on it, as older models used to be made with larger flanges, which is why for most people who want to use either 00 or H0, and want to ensure they can run most model locomotives and rolling stock that they come across, I would use code ...

Re: How is my brain nowadays??? (Funicular layout)
Chris. Wobbly rails are not an issue if soldering onto PCB. Gauge width is but rails can be adjusted by re-heating them until the solder liquifies and moving them slightly to where they need to be.

Re: How is my brain nowadays??? (Funicular layout)
Just for Mountain and those with unruly rails Ta-da--- "Rails that spring in all directions - you need my "Universal Rail Tamer"" Here's a shot of me "straightening" an unhelpful rail. The effect isn't instant but it is even reversible. That angle does me no favours I'...

Welded track? What scale will the model be? I use Peco code 100 rails soldered onto sleepers I cut from printed circuit board but I model in 7mm scale. I know a modeller used for his 1/32 and Gn15 modeling code 100 rail directly spiked on a flat playwood baseboard, Very usefull, time and work spari...

Re: DC to DCC And Back To DC Again!
I was going to give this answer elsewhere as I let my mind wonder, but it is so apt for this thread I will put it in here instead. The foundational principles of DCC was to make set of rules in which everyone used so that the systems would not only use the same language, but have a forward and backw...

Re: Dcc loco issues
Probably why they bought a job lot cheap? The problem is with things like this is that manufacturers can test and test but it is not until they go out into the publc that issues really come into play, as there is always a small aspect that they had not accounted for while testing. You will probably ...
