Re: Loco Turntables
Sorry I'm very late for the party  I can highly recommend the Peco turntable. I have two on my layout, one in the shed area and one at the end of the fiddle yard. Both are powered by Locomotech motors, which are very quiet, and turn at 2rpm. Power comes via an H&M Clipper, with a switch dir...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
I have just given Hornby Schools Class 30909 a set of etched name plates from Fox Transfers. I bought this loco eleven years ago in a Hattons "half-price" sale - it was the second loco Hornby introduced with sound. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51889349386_09047ea138_k.jpg IMG_1146 b...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Thanks for the positive comments. I think the retaining wall around the turntable needs some serious weathering - it still looks like new Metcalfe Retaining Wall.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
I have also recently added some scenery to what was a blank wood-chipped wall at the end of my layout. Some Metcalfe Retaining Wall, a short length of ID Backscenes "Trees", a Wills plate girder bridge and some Woodland Scenics bushes finished it off. I may still change the scene behind th...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
I have been using the Hattons Oil Spill kit around the shed area, when finished it will give well trodden down oil soaked ground and track. The kit consists of a bag of powder (dirt?) and a bottle of oil spill. You put the powder where you want it, and then apply (in my case) a 50/50 pva, water and w...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Thanks Ex-Pat - The trouble with Iphone footage is that it can show up errors/problems. As the loco left the turntable, there was a bump, the shed track is obviously minutely higher than that on the turntable - it will need a bit of re-alignment.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
35005 Canadian Pacific being turned on the Wykeham turntable. You will notice the sound stops as the polarity on the t/t changes. Also when there is no sound, you will also notice how quiet the t/t motor is. Click on the picture should get things moving  https://live.staticflickr.com/31337/5184...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Great new addition with that MN. I love the layout lighting as well, very effective. Can’t be long before a new rebuilt MN comes out I think, it’s the biggest express passenger loco overdue an upgrade. Hi - I cannot see Hornby upgrading the rebuilt M/N's. Admittedly they have been out for a long ti...

Many thanks for the advice - I might give it a try. I assume it would be available in Hobbycraft?

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Hi Daniel
I have not used China ink, but have read about it. I would assume the outcome is very similar to using a "black wash" - this would probably emphasize creases in material (clothes) and shadow? Barry

Thanks Daniel - very careful painting. I'll have to study some 1960's fashion for colours.Daniel wrote:They look really very good, Barry.
Painted they will look just perfect.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Some Hardys Hobbies 3D people fresh off the sprue, having been given a light dusting of matt white primer. They will then need a final "tidy-up" before painting - they have multiple attachments to the sprue, which when snipped off usually leave a small bump which needs filing/sanding off -...
