Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Hi E2e The one advantage (in my eyes) is that the 9F uses the HM7000 21pin sound decoder which is a plug-in (direct fit no harness), and the speaker supplied with the decoder fits perfectly into the space provided. I have also got the Hornby Power Pack (stay-alive), but I have not fitted that - it w...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

A recent addition to the "collection" and now fitted with the new HM7000 21pin TXS sound decoder and operating via my iPhone 8 (IOS 16.3.1). I have been running it for two or three weeks (testing for Hornby). It has had the 9F sound profile added, and I am pleased to say it is all working ...

Re: Hornby Adams Radial Problems.

I'm coming very very late to the party (is it still going on? ). My Hornby (R3333) 30584 Adams Radial bought in 2016, was one of the models with the incorrectly wired decoder socket - I'm told Hornby were aware of this but kept quiet! I managed to correct the wiring, but the loco is an absolut...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Many thanks for the comments. The illuminated arches were done as a bit of fun. Metcalfe retaining walls, with two strips of copper tape glued to the back, and pre-wired 3v LED's (Ebay) soldered to the tape and concealed in the top of the arch. A lead also soldered to the tape was dropped down below...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

The Hornby 4-wheel coaches, shown previously, had very "white" lighting. I have put a dab of Tamiya Clear Yellow on each LED - it softens the lighting a little - more in keeping the era the coaches are supposed to portray? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52631269424_878f82ee4f_k.jpg IM...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Having replaced almost nine feet of Metcalfe Stone Retaining Wall with a plaster cast version, I now have to start the weathering process. I have a couple of pieces of walling with which to experiment on. I have stuck the walling onto some strip pine (copied this idea from Shawhurst/Fratton71D), so ...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Thanks Geoff T - I have not done much of late. I have replaced the Metcalfe Stone Retaining wall with a plaster-cast version - it has texture and detail which the Metcalfe version lacks. I am now going to mount the walling on strips of wood, with a similar strip along the back, this will enable sect...

A good "Black Friday" deal - Four 4-wheel coaches (with lights) for the price of two.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Battle of Britain Class 34070 "Manston" on a quick visit to Wykeham, having received its new 10-year boiler ticket on the 16th November 2022 after a five year overhaul. The real "Manston" can now be seen again on the Swanage Railway. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5250969437...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

I have added working headlights to the leading taxi on the station cab rank. Only problem appears to be one light on "main-beam" the other on "dipped". Will get that changed before MOT is due. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52504063085_fe669a808f_k.jpg IMG_1429 by Bar...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.

Hi Jim - Thanks for the suggestion about the Halfords Matt Khakki - I might try that. Although I think a wall bordering a steam shed, over the years would be a dirty black - even the pointing.
