Re: Hornby B1 Stembok (R3451)
Thanks once again, BIgmet. Knowing how good the K1 is, how much a good B1 would cost me and the fact that I'm DC, I think I'll remain B1-less.

Hornby B1 Stembok (R3451)
Is it realistic to expect that a new Hornby B1 should be as good a runner as my Hornby K1 is? Or are there marked differences between them that would affect the performance?

You're thinking of acrylic paints, not "latex".

Re: A2/3 over-subscribed!

Re: Are Hattons buying 'pre owned' off EBay to re sell?
When talking to a Hattons Person on the phone once about the prices they were paying, I mentioned what seemed to me to be their going rate for buying-in secondhand rolling stock. Judging by the reaction I got, I wasn't far off :) Let's just say that if I was to flog them some ordinary run-of-the-mil...

a price tag that would have Gostude muttering rip-off under his breath.   I think we all know that rip off merchant! Thanks for the morning chuckle. End2end Hate to say it, but I've actually bought three Bachmann wagons from him at very fair prices over the last couple of ...

Exactly the same here, even when it's called "pre-owned"!

Re: Are Hattons buying 'pre owned' off EBay to re sell?
I used to buy a lot of stuff from Hattons, without realising that the reason why I was automatically buying from Hattons was actually because 30-35 years ago they were always cheapest and I'd just been assuming that they still were! What a silly person was I! So I finally got my act together and com...

Re: Definitely silly question
My enquiry about availability of the 4.5v battery with the brass strip contacts came about because of a brainfart. I was confusing the EverReady 1289 with the ones which used to power the ubiquitous EverReady pushbike front lights until they quickly died, got forgotten about, leaked and ruined the l...

Pannier crew
My Bachmann panniers are in need of crews, so I have questions. Is there a magic technique for getting them into the right positions in the cabs? And are any of the offerings from Dart/Monty's particularly suitable? (I'd love to use Modelu but can't afford to, and I was decidedly unimpressed with Fa...

Rotating axleboxes
I have little if any interest in model diesel locototives, and I know even less about full-size ones, but after stumbling upon a YouTube thing about Hatton's wobbly Class 66, I'm intrigued by these 'ere rotating axleboxes. What is the point of rotating axleboxes? What actually rotates? And why might...
