Re: Preowned windfalls

I'm waiting to see if Hattons reduces the class-128 DPU any further from the current £52.

Re: DJ Models (Hattons) Class 14xx (image heavy)

An interesting point for me to note here is the warning that HF 'Track Cleaners' are not recommended with coreless motors, and may even cause damage. As I am running conventional DC with the Gaugemaster HF2, this is of some concern to me. Up to now, I have been purchasing some new locomotives, knowi...

Similar advice from a similar era, but to solve a different problem : If your Amiga was having regular odd Guru Meditations, it could be one or more custom chips losing contact with their associated sockets. Too nervous to take it apart? Then hold it upside down and drop it onto your bed / some pill...

Such as the Lima class-20.
Its traction tyres turn a Bo-Bo into an 0-4-0.

Re: How to secure plywood top

My entire frame and baseboard uses screws for fixing, in case I need to disassemble it at a later date. That's fine for a permanent layout but if you have a portable one screws alone will not make it ridged enough but as soon as you glue it you will not be able to dismantle it! I've yet to reuse an...

Re: Hornby R602 Power clip

I bought a pack of the Peco track connector jumpers.
These have wires already attached that you can pass through small holes in your baseboard, and then use connection blocks for the power.

Obviously you can solder wire on yourself, but I didn't trust my soldering skills.

Re: BARGAINS!

The Heljan Hymek is incredibly weighty. I imagine it improves rail-contact and hauling abilities.

Re: howdo from colchester essex

My layout is ideally suited to shunters, DMUs, and small panniers.

Which is why I've managed to accrue a couple of Westerns, classes 58, 47, 37, a 9F, a full rake of Mk2 and 2b...

Re: controller advice please

The only really small niggle I have with the Gaugemaster is the direction switch being marked F and R.

These directions are frequently swapped on my layout, being a single loop an' all, and I imagine for others, the labels seem arbitrary as well.
I'd prefer just arrows.

Practice not just restricted to model railway sphere.

I see strappy heels at higher price than a decent pair of leather kneeboots.
Makes no sense. I always get the boots :)

Re: Tyne Dock/Consett 9F

I've always loved the 9F. Not sure why. It just looked a bit different from the majority of the other steamers. Perhaps a bit more utilitarian. I was always going to be having one on my layout, but was always disappointed it was a freight-only locomotive, but I needn't have worried as - toward the e...
