Re: New Street Station
Well what can I say. I came onto this forum to try and gain some tips but obviously some don't believe me. So I have decided to call it a day after just a short time. What I will say is that when I have finished I will post the photos and anyone will be welcomed to come and check the model. To the r...

Re: Iron work for bridge.
HO I believe is smaller in scale than 00 so I have more chance of fitting it in. You're right, it is a slightly smaller scale (1:87 as opposed to 1:76) but as I said, what do you propose to do about rolling stock? I'll be interested to see your construction methods - have you actually tried them ye...

Re: Iron work for bridge.
Flying Scotsman The only wood I will be using will be Lime wood. All platforms will be made of this with gates underneath toped by Slabs. All buildings will be made of this apart from the metal bits which will be made out of aluminium and brass.

Re: Iron work for bridge.
The bridge over New St in 1854 was build of iron and wood so that's what I need to copy as close as possible using really materials . It will be Ho gauge or as near as so the iron work wont be that heavy.

Re: Iron work for bridge.
Hi Flying Scotsman,Gary and all. I only intend to build one model and don't want to compromise just like the Victorians . I will not be using plastic or card. I was going to build the bridge out of wood but have read it was constructed of iron. Please don't take offence I want to get this as near as...

Re: New Street Station
Anyone know anything about loading gauges at New St? From what I can make out there was a truck behind the loco loaded above the height of carriages.

Re: New Street Station
Hi Jim I have looked at photos and think I can cut back on platform lengths using Flexible Track in platform runs. A lot of platform was wasted. Somehow I will get over the points and cross overs. One of the problems I see is fitting at least 26 turntables into the model, I know there only for wagon...

Re: New Street Station
After listening to the experts and please don't take that the wrong way if your not an expert but you certainly know a lot more than me. If this does not fit on an 8X6 board I will have to look at forgetting the turn table and just concentrate on the station. But if anyone can shed a light on Curzon...
